Address: 4100 Gordon Baker RoadJob Family Group:TechnologyEnterprise Architecture plays a vital role within the BMO technology organization. Based on our enterprise reference architectures, we lead the development and implementation of innovative, secure and cost-effective information technology target architectures, feeding into multi-year investment plans, solutions and operational environments that support and enable BMO lines of business to meet their defined strategies. This includes:Timely creation of Reference and Target Architectures, describing capabilities needed for BMO Engineering solutions, delivered in advance of solution implementationDefinition of security capabilities to be incorporated into Targets, Solutions, and Patterns, to drive a “baked-in” security mindset for solution design and engineering teams and safeguard our environments, data, intellectual property, and operations within BMO’s risk appetite.Definition of operational capabilities, including security operations, to be included in the solutions to meet the business requirements of availability performance, and information security risk management.Defining the principles, standards, patterns and guidelines regarding the proper use and deployment of technology within the EnterpriseThe Cloud Infrastructure Architect contributes to creating the strategic enterprise architecture for the bank, combining deep knowledge of technology infrastructure to support seamless experiences for our stakeholders – customers, BMO employees, BMO developers, and others. The Cloud Infrastructure Architect defines the principles, standards, patterns and guidelines regarding the proper use and deployment of technology within the Enterprise, creates the policies, processes, and procedures around technology governance by assessing the appropriate evolution of architecture in both a business and a technology context, and advises the business regarding the use of technology in providing overall value to the Enterprise. This includes performing the required research to understand both the current state of the financial industry and technology landscape to define immediate needs and looking forward to emerging technology to identify the appropriate, modern, cloud-native capabilities to add to our architectures. As an Cloud Infrastructure Architect, here’s what you will do:Lead the definition and development of architecture, patterns and guidelines to accelerate cloud adoption (AWS and Azure) and modernize on-premise infrastructureProvide leadership in technical guidance and counsel to Development, Information Security, Engineering and Operation teams to ensure that their processes and deliverables align with the Architecture of the EnterpriseDefine the security controls for a variety of cloud and on-premise workloads, working closely with Information SecurityResearch, identify, document, and socialize (via formal governance and through ad hoc meetings) capabilities to be built into both cloud and traditional infrastructure target architecturesBe accountable for developing the functional roadmap to implement capabilities defined in target state architectures by working with application owners, engineering teams, and other architects.Partner with our Information Security (IS) team to ensure alignment between Enterprise Architecture and IS on the infrastructure security capabilities needed to maintain BMO’s security postureWork across EA teams to ensure capabilities are understood and consumed in application and infrastructure focused target infrastructuresContribute to the definition and implementation of technology governance activities (e.g., reference architecture, standards and guidelines) to ensure that project teams adhere to industry best practices and BMO standardsIdentify and define new processes and/or process improvement opportunities to integrate EA defined capabilities into BMO engineering and application designsResearch and monitor industry trends and technologies to recommend technology direction.
