: What will you work on? We are seeking an Engineering Intern to support and contribute in multiple ways to new toy lines created within our Toronto office, Los Angeles and New York Offices. Reporting to a Lead Engineer or Manager within the Engineering Innovation team, the intern will work with other cross-functional teams to review products from an engineering perspective and those development tools to build a mass-produced consumer grade children’s toy. In close partnership with other electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, prototype engineers, and the product development team, the intern will review 3D printed parts, feature(s)/mechanisms, CAD files, performance objectives, materials, quality and safety requirements, launch timing and cost constraints. The intern will leverage skills and knowledge gained throughout the assignment to then partner with the other engineering interns in our Los Angeles and Long Island City offices on a group project, with eventual read out to key stakeholders in the business before the internship concludes. Provide support on mechanical, electronic, and/or materials engineering aspects throughout the new product development cycle.
Undertake and successfully complete basic project/product development tasks which include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, testing processes/equipment/raw materials/product.
Support basic tasks on engineering documentation and communication with other team members
Examine parts/components, from prototypes to production quality with lead engineers for defects or functional concerns and highlight any issues to product development and manufacturing teams.
Participate in product brainstorming, as required, across our various brands and portfolios
Partner closely with other PD Engineering Interns in our global offices on a group project
Support productivity by taking on new challenges or special projects designated by lead engineers in our Engineering Innovation Team.
Perform tasks independently while working closely with individual team members to ensure that objectives are met.
What are your skills and experience?
Pursuing degree in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic engineering
Interest in toy development and consumer goods.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team atmosphere.
Support innovative yet cost-effective design solutions
Understanding of materials and/or plastic injection molding process
Understanding of electronics, embedded programming and battery technology an asset.
Ability to work with creative and engineering professionals
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
