You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.This position is available at our Winnipeg office.What your day will look likeProject Management & DesignProject management of design activities related to electrical substations and reliable electrical transmission linesManagement and leadership of multidisciplinary project teams(including electrical, transportation, municipal and structural engineers, transportation systems planners, planners, environmental scientists, technical support staff, etc.)Management of the completion of assigned projects from initial concept to construction and commissioning.Coordination of design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completionAssistance with the preparation of estimates and project proposalsLearning & DevelopmentLeadership and technical guidance of a team of electrical professionals (including engineers and technologists)Input to the career development of other staff including providing technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringContributions to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committeesBusiness DevelopmentManagement of the development of public and private sector client relationships and new business opportunities, with particular emphasis on the electrical design component of such projects for substations and transmission linesLeadership in providing quality client services, with particular emphasis on the renewable electrical energy market.Business travel to other Dillon offices upon requestWhat you will need to succeedEducationA degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Manitoba, or eligible to be licensed within six months.A minimum of 10 years of related professional experience.ExperiencePreparation and design of high voltage substations and transmission lines, including:substation physical arrangement drawingsone line diagrams and engineering studies for HV substation equipment application, including metering, protection and controlHV equipment specificationsdesign calculations such as load flow, short circuit, equipment sizing, bus support loading and groundingShort Circuit and Relay Coordination programs.SCADA systems related to substation designPreparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installationDesign of electrical transmission facilities including line layout, foundations, structure configuration, structure, insulation and conductor specificationDemonstrated abilities in the delivery of accurate and thorough designs that meet industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices with excellent constructabilityDemonstrated success in project management and business development of Renewable Energy projectsProven experience in the review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructabilityMaintaining complete project documentation with respect to transmission line design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data informationDemonstrated success leading teams of technical professionals on multi-disciplinary projectsComprehensive understanding of the electrical component of substation and transmission line design for renewable energy-related projectsExtensive experience in electrical power and distribution design, fault protection and protective relay design for power utilitiesProficiency providing technical leadership to a team of professionalsStrong organizational and interpersonal skills along with both verbal and written communicationWhy choose DillonDillon is powered by people who are technically proficient, passionate about socially important projects, and motivated to deliver superior, tangible results.
