About our Client

Our retained client, a high profile non-for-profit organization in the real estate sector, is looking for an Economist to join their Vancouver-based team on a permanent basis in the upcoming new year. In this newly created role, this position is responsible for scoping, developing and leading the firm’s economic analysis efforts. The Economist provides strategic leadership on economics and analysis – establishing the organization as a credible and trusted source of economic commentary. This position will lead the development of innovative concepts, ideas and solutions relating to the economy and real estate through their research and analytical, technical, and interpretive analysis of data and industry information. You will share your expertise with members, business and government leaders, media and to the public and consumers in a variety of venues and publications. This position would represent our client on committees and task forces in addition to providing information and analysis in support of the development of Government Relations advocacy positions.   • Develop and manage an annual business plan for economic analysis which aligns with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Prepare and manage an annual budget for economic analysis.
  • Provide input to the finance department regarding economic impacts that can influence the annual budget.
  • Maintain and build relationships with key external groups that provide insights on industry activity that may impact the real estate sector.
  • Lead and monitor the collection of external key economic data.
  • Lead the development of statistics products using internal data, external data and other research.
  • Research and develop appropriate modelling techniques for the preparation of semiannual forecast reports.
  • Lead and prepare the production of regular monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Represent our client on a variety of platforms including participation on expert panels, presentations to key stakeholders, and media requests.
  • Present critical statistics to members, the media, business community and other audiences.
  • Build, test and maintain macroeconomic and statistical models to produce market analysis, trends and forecasts based on factors related to government regulations, demographics and market factors


  • Master’s degree in economics, statistics, finance of other relevant fields with a minimum of five years related experience. A combination of relevant experience and education/training will be considered
  • Strong background and interest in economic analysis and the real estate market
  • Demonstrates exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and can use a variety of techniques and methods to make logical, well-reasoned and effective decisions. Can assess the required depth of analysis required in various situations, is organized and efficient in gathering and managing information and drawing conclusions. Pays attention to detail and uses good judgment in addition to statistical methods in generating forecasts and economic analysis
  • Demonstrates an ability to develop accessible and easy-to-understand economic analysis products relevant to business decision-makers and consumers
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of economic research models, projects, reports, positions and strategies. Demonstrates highly developed research skills and experience in using analytical and interpretation tools
  • Applies best practices to economic analysis, econometrics and economic modeling—and is able to conduct economic analyses and maintain data series requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed methodology
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an interest in building and maintaining relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Superior communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
  • Media spokesperson training and experience
  • Must be skilled in developing effective presentations and delivering them in a compelling and interesting manner to capture the audience’s interest and influence industry leaders, real estate professionals, the media, government, consumers, and the public.
  • Has the ability to build our clients reputation and credibility as an expert resource, industry influencer and thought leader.
  • Team-oriented attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
