Job Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Chairman, the Director of Health & Safetydevelops, administers, and implements companywide occupational safety programs. This individual is responsible for the analysis of health and safety reports determining trends and making recommendations to the leadership team on preventative or corrective measures taking into account fiscal concerns and legislative requirements. The Director of Health and Safety will be required to align health and safety issues with companywide long and short-term strategic planning.

Primary Responsibilities:

+ Develop and review policies and procedures ensuring that all health and safety measures are being taken.

+ Lead team of health and safety managers and consultants to ensure they meet all strategic, legislative, and fiscal corporate requirements.

+ Ensure that all governmental legislation is being followed-at-all times and in all facilities.

+ Review all health and safety reports analyzing compiled data to determine areas of improvement.

+ Lead inspections of the workplace ensuring safety standards are met and being enforced consistently.

+ Direct planning projects aimed at integrating health and safety activities into the company’s production efforts.

+ Manage non-compliance offenses of a high level.

+ Manage investigation and reporting of health and safety incidents and hazard assessments.

+ Maintain a strong knowledge of legislative changes that are upcoming in-order to pro-actively begin implementing and developing procedures.

+ Review job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures and write reports and recommendations.

+ Research, plan, organize and conduct training programs/seminars for Li-Cycle employees.

+ Periodically act as a team leader to special task forces or teams.

+ Provide training to managers and others on occupational safety issues.

Job Qualifications:

+ Post-secondary degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Minimum of 10 years in occupational health and safety in an industrial establishment.

+ Safety certification training in Canada and USA desired

+ Thorough knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations.

+ Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).

+ Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.

+ Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.

+ The ability to multi-task and adapt to change in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

+ A high degree of professionalism and independence with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
