DIRECTOR, CONTINUING EDUCATION AND PARTNER SOLUTIONSBUSINESS DEVELOPMENTReporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the Director of Continuing Education and Partner Solutions will lead and execute an integrated plan to grow continuing education and customized training at NorQuest College through excellence in programming, strong industry partnerships and oversight of a talented team.The Director will be responsible for the design and management of business planning in alignment with the College planning and budgeting cycles and will institute accountability measures to support the growth of revenues and net profits activities at the college related to continuing education, corporate training, centers of excellence and business ventures. This role will work with learners, government, communities, industry, and internal departments at the college and will participate on a number of college committees. This role will be critical for the development of an innovative, entrepreneurial and results-driven culture.RESPONSIBILITIES:Leadership and Strategy ExecutionProvides leadership to overall offerings of continuing education, corporate training and business/joint ventures at NorQuest College.Provides leadership and direction to the team to ensure the short and long term success of the department in a competitive entrepreneurial environment.Ensures there is planned human resource development and performance review for employees within the scope of college operations and as per collective agreements.Determines and appoints the appropriate staffing mix, including contracted services, partnership agreements and joint ventures, to fulfill the mandate of the department.Promotes and fosters an innovative and inclusive work environment and encourages performance, engagement and creativity.Embraces an entrepreneurial mindset to innovate and lead change in the continuing education and corporate training space.Stakeholder and Business DevelopmentIdentifies and responds to market needs with high quality programs, courses, training materials and services.Develops growth and expansion activities, seeking out and securing additional net revenue generating activity and expansion with full accountability for financial results.Builds new relationships and expands existing partnerships to grow and fund new programs and services.Represents the College, Division or unit, internally or externally, as appropriate; participates in community committees, boards, working groups and other initiatives to build the NorQuest brand and engage in supporting the learning environment locally, regionally and internationally.Business Planning and Budget ManagementEmploys good judgment and strong management principles in leading, managing and supporting activities in the department.Participates in the preparation of divisional strategic plans; provides input into the development of the College’s strategic plan.Provides risk management and oversight for funded and unfunded activities, including process review, developing business cases, costing structure and sign off protocols.Ensures that decisions and processes are coordinated and communicated within the department, with other divisions of the College, to the Vice President and to the external community, as appropriate.Initiates, coordinates and interprets market research relevant to the business planning of the department with the goal of positioning the department competitively within the external marketplace.Ensures that policies and procedures for the department are developed, implemented and systematically reviewed.Ensures that the department’s business plan is developed, implemented and monitored in keeping with the college’s objectives, policies and procedures.Administers the department on a self-funded basis.Develops quality assurance measures for all offerings in the department.QUALIFICATIONS:A graduate degree in a related discipline or a combination of education and recent, relevant experience.Minimum of 5 years in a progressively senior leadership roles in an entrepreneurial education service environment.Proven experience in implementing strategic and business plans including budgeting, setting performance management goals and business objectives.Knowledge of management principles and human resource management experience are critical.
