The Credit Analyst will be responsible for researching, analyzing credit risks, assessing credit history and approving or denying extension of credit to potential customers (Consumer & Commercial). The analyst will have daily contact with other departments within the corporation, as well as automotive dealers and other finance sources.Underwriting – (30%)Analyze information received from credit applications and credit reporting agencies to make prudent credit decisionsMaintaining/exceeding established standards and targets while adhering to all credit policies, procedures and guidelinesEscalate with recommendation those credit applications that exceed discretionary limits and established guidelinesAssessing credit worthiness of prospective customers and approving / recommending credit terms and limits appropriate to the customer”s requirements on Consumer & Commercial accountsBusiness Development (25%)Establish dealer relationships by building rapport through telephone contactAbility to take initiative and work in a team environment to deliver excellent customer service in meeting turnaround times by processing requestsFlexible, reliable, conscientious and able to follow directionsPerform due diligence in support of all credit applicationsNegotiation – (25%)Negotiate terms and conditions of loan decisions with dealers within established approval/exception guidelinesExcellent listening skillsSound knowledge of assessing and reviewing financial statements to ensure credit worthiness vs acceptable level of risk by interpreting and applying the corporation”s credit and operational risk management strategiesService (20%)Promote and provide a high standard of service to dealers and other areas within the company/adhering to service standard guidelinesSupport both inbound and outbound calls with a focus on providing professional customer service related to consumer/commercial applications, programs, rates and vehicle residual values to maintain positive relationshipsMaintain good channels of communication with all business units including interaction with senior leadership teamContribute to operational improvements to streamline procedures/processes and enhance serviceKnowledgeKnowledge of basic lending principlesKnowledge and understanding of basic credit bureau reportsKnowledge and understanding of detailed financial statement and ratio analysisKnowledge of standard office softwareAutomotive lending and/or leasing experience would be considered a definite assetWritten and oral English is a must, bilingual French is requiredExcellent report writing and communication skills (written and verbal)Excellent Communication and interpersonal skillsSuccessful Candidate must be able to work in a fast paced, high pressure environmentThe successful candidate must be detailed oriented, open to change, be able to work independently, be a team player, and organizedRequires strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to underwrite loans and mitigate riskRequires the ability to successfully negotiate business transactions with automotive dealersEducationSecondary degree requiredMinimum education of a College or University business diploma or equivalent experienceExperienceMinimum 1 years of direct lending experience, automotive preferred#LI-AR1
