Responsibilities and Duties

Costing model

+ Develop and maintain the standard costing model

+ Maintain and improve job costing system to accurately model and predict profitability

+ Design and implement data tracking methods to determine actual costs

+ Provide costing info for any projects or quotes

+ Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies

+ Maintain BOMs and pricing

+ Determination of appropriate overhead application

+ Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close

+ Validate landing cost against purchase cost of each inventory items

+ Calculate and monitor project based budget and costing


+ Establish and review standard costs for all inventory items

+ Review, analyze and report on inventory valuation, raw materials, WIP, direct and indirect labor, manpower productivity, overhead costs and related variances

+ Co-ordinate cycle counts and results to improve accuracy of perpetual inventory

+ Co-ordinate annual physical inventory count, work closely with production and warehouse to monitor, track and improve physical inventory count process and inventory management

+ Support business partners through data collection and analyses related to inventory, manufacturing costs and other expenditures

+ Ensure validity and accuracy of ERP system through analysis, internal audit and coordination with inventory control, production and other functional teams


+ Analyze actual production costs and investigate manufacturing variances

+ Analyze variances and discrepancies for various accounts, including revenue and cost of sales

+ Analyzing changes in product design including materials, labor and machine requirements to determine effects on costs

+ Reconcile perpetual inventory balances and resolve any variances as they progress through the facility ensuring the proper accounting treatment of inventory through the manufacturing process


+ Provide management with reports identifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products/customers

+ Prepare working papers and reports to inform plant management of financial performance

+ Prepare pricing documentation annually for management review

+ Provide all required documents & information to Finance manager to ensure strategic data is reflected in financial statements and recorded into accounting systems

+ Act as the subject matter expert for reporting in the ERP system from a costing and manufacturing perspective

Work Conditions:

+ Salary 65 K$ to 75 K$ depending on experience

+ Day shift – Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week

Required Experience:

+ University degree or College diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ Knowledge of both financial reporting standards & managerial accounting practices

+ Minimum 3 years of experience within a plant-based operation costing position

+ Minimum 5 years experience with inventory management in manufacturing industry

+ Advanced excel skills is required

+ Extensive ERP experience is a required

+ Analytical and problem-solving experience

+ Excellent organizational and planning skills as this role is forever changing due to the new projects driven by new business opportunities

+ Must be a self-starter and have demonstrated ability to add value to reports and analysis

+ Able to work both independently and as part of a team

+ Authorized to work in Canada for any employer

+ CPA designation or Accounting certification is a strong asset
