Position Overview: This position is responsible for the reporting and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements. Other duties include month-end close activities, BPC global consolidations, general corporate accounting and other key reporting activities and analyses to meet emerging requirements from management.

Job Description:

  • Month-end/Quarter-end reporting activities including supporting the BPC global consolidation process, standard accounting entries as required for month-end close, complete account reconciliations for key corporate balance sheet accounts, preparation and analysis of various footnotes for quarterly external reporting, provide assistance with complex/unique accounting transactions. Review of consolidated interest expense and corporate debt levels includes coordination with Treasury on Finning’s capital structure.
  • Ownership of data validation activities for migration of ERP data to BW/BPC’s finance and consolidation models for month-end reporting; coordination with Finning’s DSS and BPC COE teams on working resolutions for data mapping issues and discrepancies. Includes ownership and maintenance of BPC data mapping files for changes and updates as required each month-end.
  • Ownership of consolidated financial statements for 4Refuel entity and the offshore companies – includes analyses of actual results compared to budget and forecast. Includes the preparation of budget and forecast for offshore entities.
  • Transfer pricing accounting: including monthly and quarterly analysis on costs compared to budget and forecast. Coordinate transfer of costs between country operations and ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained. Assist in the analysis and reporting of the transfer pricing costs and allocation of costs between operations during project and sustainment periods. Requires coordination with the GSS team on required accounting entries and updates to GSS allocation files.
  • Blackline system maintenance – including set up of automated journal entry schedules and account reconciliation template updates. Work closely with Enterprise Support team on Blackline system updates, future process improvements, and general system troubleshooting.
  • M3 ERP system maintenance – work closely with Enterprise Support team on coordinating set up of new accounts, open/close periods, foreign exchange rate updates, and other general system troubleshooting.
  • BPC system report maintenance and development of BPC ad-hoc reporting for the CCG team; assist other team members with BPC reporting tool and provide training to others as needed.
  • Special projects and ad-hoc reporting – as requested by management

Qualifications:

  • An accounting diploma from an accredited educational facility (a professional accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA)) is required along with a minimum of 3 years experience in finance/accounting.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices and systems
  • A strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS

  • Blackline knowledge would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Finning systems and operations would be preferred
