Wood is seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join ourMining & Minerals business group. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is located at our Vancouver, BC office. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this opportunity is for you.Key Responsibilities Providing civil engineering design and technical support for the construction and modification of mining and industrial facilities and services, including calculations, design drawing review as well as field investigations Preparing proposals, feasibility studies, preliminary design, engineering specifications, and contract documentsReviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation, including checking for technical quality and accuracyLeading and mentoring junior staffManaging multiple tasks in a multi-disciplinary team environmentDeveloping and maintaining positive & sustainable client relationships Coordinating and working with project team membersUndergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering with eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC A minimum 5 years experience in civil engineering design within mining, energy and/or industrial projects of varying stages from conceptual to detailed designSolid experience in site development, pipe and open channel hydraulics, pump stations, pumping systems and piping (both gravity and pressure) designTailings / slurry piping design experience is an assetSound knowledge of various piping materials, fittings and joining methodsExperience in storm water management, stormwater runoff calculations, sizing the ditches, culverts and pondsGood understanding of various coordinate systems and survey controlsExperience in interpreting and applying geotechnical design recommendations on civil designsCapable of developing creative yet practical conceptsExperience in writing technical reports, specifications and in preparing the material take-offsExperience in technical evaluations of construction contracts and material / equipment supply contractsExcellent organizational, technical, communication and computer skillsKnowledge of general civil designs and an understanding of industry codes, standards and construction methodsWood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world’s most critical challenges.
