Category Manager

Our client a small, successful wholesaler of industrial gloves is currently searching for a Category Manager to join their team in Mississauga.  We are looking for someone that data driven.  This is a great opportunity for someone that likes to wear many hats and is passionate about their role

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, Pricing and Profitability, specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Build and maintain tools to plan and report on revenue and inventory performance
  • Lead the monthly inventory planning process
  • Ensure all systems are correctly updated with product data
  • Build and maintain tools to accurately price products and present regular market analysis on competitiveness
  • Build and maintain tools to accurately track all costs associated with sale programs to ensure margin targets are maintained
  • Build and maintain tools to report on customer and product profitability and present proposals for improvement
  • Perform market analysis to identify opportunities to increase revenue
  • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual sales performance to identify trends that need to be capitalized or corrected
  • Build and maintain presentation decks showcasing company performance and strategic plans
  • Assist business development leaders with the refinement and finalization of customer presentations
  • Build and maintain a product and promotional calendar which tracks the roll outs of new products, product changes and customer specific programs
  • Monitor and report on competitive and industry activity and use findings to report on suggested programs
  • Ensure all components, services and people required for marketing campaigns and trade shows are secured and prepared for flawless execution
  • Provide product and market intelligence to business development leaders as requested and needed

Skill and Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • High level of work commitment and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well as a part of team and independently
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills, as well as time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid overall understanding of consumer goods sold through national and regional retailers and industrial goods sold through distributors
  • Advanced user of Business Intelligence applications, Catalyst experience is an asset
  • SAP experience is an asset
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in category management providing products to retailers and industrial distributors
  • University degree in Business Administration or Marketing
  • Advanced user of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Highly organized and able to set effective schedule to accomplish objectives
