We are currently looking for a Buyer / Purchasing Agent for one of our clients in the insurance industry. What is in it for you: Our client is in the TOP 100 Employers in Canada Salary of $26 / h 12 months contract Day time hours Dynamic and professional environment What you will need to succeed: Working towards a Procurement designation (ie SCMP etc) Knowledge of IT Sourcing (hardware and software focus) Experience with sourcing or procurement systems College Diploma or University Degree in business Analytical skills Comfortable in corporate environment Technical and professional knowledge demonstrated understanding and application of procurement and vendor management principles and best practices Ability to analyze problems and act as the decision maker effectively search for and use industry and market insights Attentive to detail, and are able to evaluate the feasibility and practicality of ideas and options Comfortable in high pressure environments Team builder who creates strategic partnerships with internal clients and vendors; builds consensus and engagement with key stakeholders Comfortable collaborating with different stakeholders and represents the company externally with confidence A keen collaborator who shares knowledge across the organization A day in the life of a Buyer / Purchasing Agent: Responsible for purchasing and negotiating services, materials, equipment, and/or supplies from suppliers. Research and select suppliers, negotiate prices, and grants contracts. Ensure that appropriate product/service is received and is in line with specification/contract. Maintain a rolling 13-month view of contract of $250K in value that are coming due for renewal Build relationships with internal I.T. Partners Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate low value contracts with them for the best pricing Process requests and continually keep the internal Procurement systems up to date Research and select the best solution Analyze market trends and lend this knowledge to I.T. Partners Partner and take direction from Director I.T. Sourcing Contribute toward corporate cost saving initiatives
