Provides exceptional customer service and coordination assistance with internal and external project partners (consultants, contractors, etc.). This Individual has a passion for building science and solving engineering problems within a supportive and inclusive team.Specific Responsibilities Include:Work with the Engineering Manager and building science team in providing our clients with exceptional customer service and quality engineering solutions.Communicates effectively as a Project Manager and technical lead with various project parties.Maintain a working relationship with other teammates.Act as client contact.Identify project opportunities and participate with teammates to develop business for the building science service line as well as the company.Provide mentorship, guidance and leadership to junior teammates. This includes reviewing reports and ensuring technical standards are met.Contribute to maintaining and improving quality control.Write reports that do not require significant editing.Be able to manage and fulfill project requirements from retaining the opportunity to project close-out.Interest and passion for building science. Share this passion with teammates as well as the industry through meetings, presentations, and training sessions.Capability to complete quality assurance site reviews and investigations, and comes with extensive knowledge of design standards for a variety of the following:curtain wall systemsenergy efficiency and sustainable designsinsulationmaterial interactions and compatibilitiesmaterials engineeringparkadeswaterproofingroofingstucco, EIFS, masonry, panels, and other wall cladding systemstransfer of heat, air and moisture through a building envelopewindowsParticipate in design reviews, field reports, investigations, reserve funds/FE, and quality assurance site reviews.Assist in the updating of corporate standards, devise new innovative approaches, apply existing criteria in new manners, and draw conclusions for comparative situations as appropriate.Prepare engineering cost proposals.Identify risks associated with a project at the proposal stage; satisfy client and our requirements with regard to risk management.Stamp own project design and reports and that of engineers-in-training or technicians for whom you are providing peer review as appropriate.Perpetuate, clarify, and embody WEC Purpose and Core Values.Teammates are required to adhere to the company policies and guidelines as well as the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering P.Eng. or P.L.(Eng.) status with APEGAMinimum of 5 – 10 years of experience within building science / building envelope fieldMust have valid class 5 drivers licenseExcellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.Able to operate independently and oversee work plans and procedures on projects.Ability to represent the company to the WEC teammates, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.Ability to coordinate with all service lines, extract and relay relevant information for complex problems.Application knowledge of WEC systems and programs (including MS Office 365, SharePoint, Deltek Vision, discipline specific drafting/design software, etc.)Understand building codes, model national energy code, ASTM standards, CGSB standards, CSA standards.Understand project management functions: proposals, budgets, contracts, billing, scheduling, and client relations.Understanding of: construction quality assurance site reviews curtain wall systems energy efficiency and sustainable designs insulationmaterial interactions and compatibilitiesmaterials engineeringparkadeswaterproofingroofing stucco, EIFS, masonry, panels, and other wall cladding systemstransfer of heat, air and moisture through a building envelopewindowsAbility to identify risks – to satisfy client and WEC requirements.
