We have an exciting opportunity for a Bilingual Policy and Communications Officer. This position may work out of our Toronto, Ottawa, or Montreal office. Reporting to the President and CEO you will be primarily responsible for drafting internal and external communications and assist with special initiatives and projects of the President’s office. In this role, you will prepare speeches, presentations and assist the President with research, surveys and written submissions for various legislative files with a focus on economic policy and SMEs economic development. In addition, you will work closely with CFIB’s membership sales leadership team to prepare an array of written communications. You have superior writing skills in both English and French and have demonstrated ability to manage multiple demands in a fast pace environment. You are extremely motivated, proactive and resourceful who possesses strong problem-solving skills, analytical ability and superior professionalism.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:Communicates directly, and on behalf of the President and CEO, with Board members, members, employees, and others, on matters related to CEO”s initiativesComposes and prepares correspondence that may be sensitive and confidentialSuccessfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach including drafting and editing an array of written communications including but not limited to letters, personal correspondence, speeches, media releases, employee announcements, board reports and presentationsWorks with the sales leadership team on regular and special communications projects Assists in managing and executing responsive media relations outreachMonitor breaking news and assist the President in responding quickly in both social and traditional mediaReviews translations of various communicationsCoordinates CFIB’s Speaker’s Bureau activities for speaking engagements for our various spokespeopleResearches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the President, including those of a sensitive, urgent, or confidential nature and determines appropriate course of action, referral, or responseSupport the President with research, surveys and written submissionsProvides leadership to build relationships crucial to the success of the organization, and manages a variety of special projects for the President, some of which may have organizational impactPrioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures, including after regular business hoursEnsures that the President”s bio is kept updated and responds to requests for materials regarding the President and the organization in generalProvide occasional administrative and scheduling support, when the dedicated administrative team is unavailableHIGHLIGHTS OF QUALIFICATIONS: Exceptional communicator with superior writing, editing and proofreading skills both in English and FrenchEffective time manager with the proven ability to manage multiple projects over varying timelinesDemonstrated ability in prioritization and delivering on commitmentsDeliver while maintaining a positive, flexible and responsive attitude High standard for customer service and professionalismBe creative and open to receiving feedback and edits from various stakeholders and has the resiliency to accept that feedbackMust demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to develop strong relationshipsEnjoy working within an environment that is mission-drivenResponsible with an aptitude for problem-solvingExperience in news media work, publicity, public and employee communications3 years’ experience in a government relations/legislative role, preferably supporting executives Post-secondary degree in communications or political science or business studies High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including; PowerPoint, Excel, Word, OutlookWe have an informal but highly professional and collaborative work environment.
