POSITION: Associate, Business Development LOCATION: Toronto STATUS: Full-time JOB OVERVIEW Reporting to the Head of North America, this is a great opportunity to bring your experience and enthusiasm to an investment manager that is directly positioned at the forefront of the Canadian liquid alternatives and global equity market. You will have a flexible approach, be able to handle complexity, show demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to apply creative thought to a wide range of problems and tasks. A critical aspect of this role will be the ability to work cohesively with the Australian based team and provide support to our Canadian clients and distribution partners. WHAT YOU WILL DO Business Development Support the Head of North America with day-to-day tasks and sales specific enquiries between the firms investments team, the distribution Sales team, and internal/external constituents Spearhead the daily management and development of the firms CRM platform (Salesforce) to effectively convey business development efforts, sales trends, activity, and opportunity pipeline Develop Salesforce capabilities by creating new data fields, developing dashboards, creating customized reports that can provide actionable data and insights to support sales efforts Meet regularly with Head of North America to develop business reports and quarterly updates for Founding Partners & Board of Directors Support the creation and maintenance of prospecting templates and emails for various stages of the sales cycle Support with administrative tasks (i.e. expenses, event planning, etc.) Marketing & Product Support Prepare pitch decks, product positioning pieces, and various marketing materials for clients/prospects as needed Respond to sales requests on the firms investment strategies which may include head-to-head comparisons, comments on portfolio attribution, and various portfolio analytics Competitive analysis – research and analyze liquid alternative and global equity peers to differentiate and position the firms investment strategies Help build upon and commercialize the brand and presence in North America Support the creation of channel specific product campaigns and sales promotional tools Monitor and update the firms North American social media channels (LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) Client Servicing Analyze data from internal systems and external sources and summarize into useful information for senior management and clients on a timely basis Assist in ad-hoc projects, acting as a general utility player as needed Provide insight, content, and analytics in the completion of highly customized due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) and request for proposals (RFPs) Assist with client and wholesaler follow-ups WHAT YOU WILL BRING Asset management experience, with strong preference to investment/product research or analytical role. An undergraduate degree in finance from a well-regarded institution CFA candidate preferred (Level 1 completed) Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills Strong research and analytical skills Knowledge and understanding of the asset management business Strong technology skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Morningstar Direct Works well under pressure, prioritizes effectively and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
