Kelly Services is pleased to be supporting our esteemed multinational auto manufacturing client in their requirement for an AIX System Administrator to work as part of a small team supporting AIX and pSeries systems. This is a long-term contract role with a review date of March 31, 2021. Work location is Alliston, ON with some opportunity to work remotely. The core hours are Monday to Friday daytime with over-time and on-call expectations on weekends as required.

Responsibilities: 

• Operate independently and as part of a small team to support AIX and pSeries systems
• Build, maintain, and upgrade AIX servers
• Manage the AIX & pSeries environments including upgrades of software and hardware
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot MQ environment
• Interact with application owners, support vendors, and department contacts
• Interact with various regional support teams for both projects and application support

Required Qualifications: 

·         Intermediate experience level (5 years)

• Virtual IO Servers (SEA/VFC Mappings/NPIV, maintenance and upgrades, etc.)
• pSeries Hardware (Power8, Power9), DLPAR, Live Partition Mobility
• Hardware Management Console (maintain and upgrade)
• Third party software installation (i.e. WebSphere, DB2, etc.)
• MQ (creating and maintaining queue managers and queues, MQ Explorer and MQ control commands, etc.)
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• A college degree with emphasis in IT system administration or demonstrated qualifying experience
• Willing to work overtime (including weekends) and scheduled shutdowns as required
• Willing to support on call
• Willing and able to work adjusted hours
• Willing to adhere to dress/schedule/office policies in a manufacturing environment

Asset Qualifications:

• Experience with PowerHA SystemMirror 7.x, IBM WebSphere v7 and/or v9 (Application Deployment)
• Basic networking concepts (SAN, Fiber Channel, LAN, EtherChannel / 10GbE)
• Experience with IBM A9000 Storage system
• Knowledge of general IT processes and project methodologies

·         Independent worker with good time management and prioritization skills
