Job Description

We are a small and dynamic law firm, specializing in international commercial creditor’s rights.  Essentially, our firm handles a high volume of commercial debt collection claims for our many clients. In many cases, we coordinate these actions with a wide network of external professionals, in jurisdictions all over the world.  As part of our broader effort to innovate and improve our internal processes, to make the transition towards more of a remote work model and to become paperless, we are currently in the process of reviewing our internal processes, including integrating a new, cloud-based, file-management, software platform, among other exciting initiatives.

We are seeking a new member to join our team and assume the following role and functions:

  • Preparation and processing of invoices and accounts receivable, including all incoming funds (in different currencies) from settlements and recoveries.
  • Overseeing and processing accounts payable, including remittances of funds (in different currencies) to our clients and external professionals.
  • Management of banking procedures (using online banking platforms), including wire transfers, ACH and EFT.
  • Ensuring compliance of our trust accounts and transactions with Barreau du Quebec requirements.
  • Management of payroll (for a small team of approximately four employees).
  • Preparing reports on all of the above.
  • Liaison with our clients and external professionals regarding accounting matters, and case management.
  • Drafting correspondences.
  • General office and administrative functions.

The candidate should have the following experience, skills and qualities:

  • 10+ years of experience in an administrative assistant or accounting clerk role, preferably within a legal or accounting environment.
  • Strong accounting skills (experience with international or US banking procedures and foreign currencies).
  • Excellent English language skills (French is an asset).
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Highly organized and meticulous, self-motivated, autonomous.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible and prepared to take on new challenges.

In return, we offer:

  • A competitive salary, based on experience and skills.
  • Flexible work hours.
  • Balance between work and personal life.
  • Remote work (for the most part).
