Working in a face paced team based multi disciplined environment, while collaborating with others, the Junior Designer/Drafter will contribute to the creation or revisions of 2D functional or detail/production drafting for ship, vessel and boat design/fabrication in any one of the following disciplines:hull and primary structural detail design and/or secondary structural steel outfitting detail design (hot work)mechanical equipment and distributed systems outfit (pipe, and/or HVAC and/or electrical/cable) detail design (cold work)joiner outfitting, general equipment, and interior space arrangements detail design.To be considered for this roll the Junior Designer/Drafter will be a Marine Draftsperson/Designer with up to three years of drafting/design experience in marine environments. New graduates with a college diploma or higher in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work-related experience will be considered. Applicants that do not possess a Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering diploma specifically should have:up to three years drafting/design experience in one or a combination of the three disciplines outlined in the Position Description aboveexperience with commercial vessel or Coast Guard or Naval type vesselsproficiency in the use of AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and Navisworks (expertise with 3D software such as Rhino, Solidworks or Inventor may be considered an asset)ship design 2D drafting experience with ShipConstructor or AVEVA Marine/Tribon/PDMS (expertise with other 3D ship functional or production model software such as NAPA, Foran, Cadmatic, Catia and Smart3D may also be considered)an ability to turn engineering specifications and classification society requirements, sketches, yard fabrication standards etc., into end state functional and/or detailed 2D drawings from 3D modelsas well as skills to review and self check ones work to comply with such requirements and standard project practicescompetence in the use of MS Outlook, Word and Excel and familiarity working in a networked PC environmentwork independently and in collaboration with others as and when needed while following standardized procedures and work instructions.Possessing or the ability to obtain Canadian Security Clearances (Reliability/Controlled Goods or higher) maybe considered an asset or maybe required for the role.Serco Inc.
