Hotel Equities (HE) has an exciting opening for a proven and transformational Vice President of Business Development. Our ideal candidate will be high energy and have ademonstrated track record of driving results in a fast paced, multi-unit and highly complex hospitality environment. They will be responsible for generating and developing new hotel management contracts in an effort to increase net income for the company.The Vice President of Business Development position will be based in Canada – Toronto Area Preferable. The salary compensation will be commission based.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Actively convert customer inquiries into executed contracts and develop future and repeat business contributing to the profitability of the companyIdentify and pursue new business sales opportunities by use of the company database, networking, exhibitions and client entertainmentGenerate business from leads and new business contacts through attending face to face meetings to build lasting relationshipsDetermine key requirements to enter new markets, including undertaking marketing analysis, devising and implementing a sales and marketing strategy for the purpose of seeking out new business in all relevant market segmentsBid and obtain new clients, prepare proposals and ensure the company process is accurately completed for all proposals and new business gainsAnalyze and research potential business growth and opportunities from existing clients and create a prospect list for targetingCreate a referral system through building contacts, connections and relationshipsSource, evaluate, and negotiate third party management contractsApply good judgment in assessing risks and rewards of new business opportunities and understand potential demand from various market participantsNetwork with hotel owners, lenders, attorneys, consultants, and special servicersAttend industry events (owner conferences, investment conferences, brand conferences)Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate for reportingEnsure all response documents are free from errors, professionally represent and address the client questionsSupport contract compliance through the negotiation of company contractual and payment terms, ensuring all aspects are understood and acceptedWork without constant supervision and willing to work outside the normal 9-5 with flexible working hours including some weekends to accommodate business needsDESIRED SKILLS + EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree (MBA preferred)Solid experience in proactive sales, hotel, hospitality industry in a customer facing roleMust have 5-10 years of experience in a similar role with a hotel management companyExcellent personal presentation and professionalismExcellent organization and prioritization skillsProfiency in French is a plusAbility to work both as a team member and a team leader to achieve results in a teamwork environmentDemonstrated ability to process new information quickly and respond aptly to changeStrong demonstrated analytical skills, with experience in solving “real-life” business problemsDemonstrated ability to use spreadsheets to manipulate large amounts of data and translate into meaningful analysisStrong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)Solid project management skills, with ability to independently manage multiple projectsAbility to work under pressure and to strong targetsAbility to manage own workloadStrong work ethic and dedicated to accomplishing goalsStrives for excellenceBudgetary analysis capabilities requiredHotel Equities is an award-winning hotel development, ownership, and management company.
