Role Summary:Accountable for managing US taxation matters within the overall tax function”s objectives by assisting the VP tax to:Ensure timely completion and appropriate coordination with external advisors of US tax filings,Prepare accurate tax accounting for the US entities, Implement US tax planning initiatives to maximize tax opportunities and minimize tax risks,Identify and communicate any US tax risks on a timely basis,Document various tax matters/positions, Manage US tax audit cycle,Liaise with other tax/finance staff in various locations to facilitate above processesKey Interactions include Finance, Legal, external auditors and external tax advisors.The eOne US group is comprised of Film and TV, and Music business units and encompasses 13 key entities – The Mark Gordon Company, Earl Street, US Reality TV, TV US, Sierra, Renegade, Dualtone, Momentum, Features, Copyrights, US LP, Round Room and Makeready. ConsultingAssist with due diligence on any potential US acquisitions,Liaise with Finance teams to ensure any Film/TV tax credits will be earned and received in a timely manner,Liaise with Legal and Finance teams to understand commercial transactions occurring during the year,Monitor US effective tax rate,Respond to tax queries from the business,Consider opportunities for rationalizing existing corporate structure,Monitor any tax sensitive matters – interest deduction limitations, legislation changes, change in business activity – to ensure the company is up to date with compliance and risk analysis Nexus – consideration as to appropriateness of income and Sales/Use tax filing footprint given changing business and regulatory environments,Tax rate – follow up after filing of tax returns to analyse any changes in effective tax rate for the US group,Transfer pricing – assist Group Tax to identify and ensure sufficient documentation exists for all cross-border transactions and finance structures,Tax Services providers – consider any opportunities to reduce the number of service providers to the GroupCompliance/ReportingReporting – preparation of US tax packs and consolidated US group calculations for internal forecasting and half year/year end statutory audits under IFRS,Tax Returns – coordination of preparation and filing of all US tax returns with external advisors or local Finance Directors (Fed, State and Local, Sales/Use, 1099, 1042),Tax payments – timely remittance of any Federal/State, BEAT or Franchise instalments,DefenseTax Audit – develop sufficient documentation to support filing positions for statutory and IRS/State tax auditors,Respond to tax queries as required and/or coordinate with Finance teams/external advisors,Communicate best practice with local teams on various tax matters – withholding tax, expense report, documentation and retention etc.US Federal and State tax knowledgePublic accounting experience, preferably with exposure to IFRSStrong tax accounting knowledgeCPA designation3-4 years tax experienceProficient in all Microsoft Office Programs with superior Excel skillsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalStrong ability to process and utilize new information effectivelyAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesAbility to work well both independently and as a member of a teamExperience in the Entertainment industry would be considered an assetWhat you’ll be a part of: · Taking care: competitive health and dental coverage· Investing in your future: employee stock option purchase plan, and local defined contribution pension plans· Break time: free snacks, winter holiday office closures, reduced hours in summer· Party time: office bar carts, after work drinks, holiday and summer parties, and sometimes just because · Be inspired: regular film screenings, concerts, and opportunity to get involved in industry events · The office: modern facilities, in house screening rooms, more snacks, and swag · Build a better world: transcend entertainment to our corporate social responsibility activities.
