These projects are executed through disciplined application of NOVA Chemicals’ Project Development and Implementation (PD&I) process in an outsourced mode with various EP or EPC contractors. The Central Engineering function within PMO is responsible for the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Corporate Engineering Standards, Technical Authority and Engineering Information Management Infrastructure.In this role, you will provide leadership and oversight for Engineering Work Processes and the team that manages them. This includes Engineering Standards, Engineering Information Management, and Engineering Quality. The work of this team sets direction for the entire organization with respect to engineering standards, systems, processes and tools.Responsibilities:Additionally, your team will support a portfolio of major projects worth $2 to $3.5 Billion over the next 5 years, as well as ongoing sustaining capital projects and business operations in the following areas:Engineering Standards development, maintenance, communication and deployment, including technical governance, change management and variance managementEngineering Information Management (EIM) infrastructure, including processes, tools, systems development, maintenance and deployment to major projectsEngineering Quality Management programs, including development and auditing for complianceYou will work closely with our Principle Engineering Team Leaders and their respective teams, as well as project and regional engineering leadership teams. Specific responsibilities include: Model Responsible Care through visible safety leadershipModel and demonstrate the principles and values of NOVA’s NatureMaximize team effectiveness through mentoring, coaching, quality conversations and performance development & management. Provide technical guidance to NOVA and Contract employeesAs an active member of the Central Engineering Leadership Team, develop and drive the effective execution of the Central Engineering business plan. Adapt team plans and priorities to address business and operational challengesDevelop, implement and manage the short and long term EIM infrastructure plans Manage governance for engineering standards, tools and EIM company wide, including all growth projectsDevelop, implement and manage the organizational Engineering Quality Assurance planEnsure effective integration and collaboration with major projects, sustaining projects and regional engineering teams with respect to engineering systems, tools and processesLiaise with EPC partners, vendors and consultants to ensure engineering systems, standards, infrastructure and quality assurance is in placeWork closely with regional Engineering Systems teams to ensure delivery of engineering work in accordance with Engineering Standards, systems and quality requirements.Mange fixed and variable cost budgets Establish cross regional networks to support continuous improvementThis role requires up to 30% of time business travel. Must have the ability to travel internationally as required. Qualifications:The successful candidate will have an Engineering degree with 10+ years of project and engineering experience and have the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation. Strong technical knowledge of engineering work processesBroad functional knowledge of all engineering disciplines and Engineering Consultant practicesProven experience managing multidisciplinary project or engineering teamsDemonstrated leadership skills (coaching, mentoring, results orientation, leading change)Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and conflict resolution skillsExcellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skillsHigh performer with demonstrated initiative and self-drivenDemonstrated ability to manage multiple complex initiatives and to work interdependently to achieve desired resultsAbility to effectively communicate and to engage and influence employees at all levels of the organizationAbility to collaborate and foster effective cross-functional and cross-regional working relationshipsAbout Us:NOVA Chemicals develops and manufactures chemicals and plastic resins that make everyday life safer, healthier and easier.
