Supervisor, Scheduling Position Description This position will be located in Calgary within KMC’s Shipper Services Department. The Shipper Services Department manages scheduling, volumetric accounting, customer relations, power consumption, oil measurement and quality control for Trans Mountain (TM) and Kinder Morgan Canada operated petroleum terminals (KMCT). This position will report to the Manager, Optimization and Strategy and will be responsible for all aspects of petroleum scheduling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Task, mentor, train, evaluate and manage staff to provide efficient and effective pipeline schedules.
•Capitalize on negotiated performance incentives such as power and throughput. Develop measurement, tracking and reporting tools for weekly management reports.
•Ensure schedules meet customer and KMC needs including maximizing incentive performance. This will require continuous coordination with other KMC departments/staff (CCO, operations, engineering, KMCT, EHS, etc) to communicate scheduling priorities and understand impacts to shippers and other KMC depts.
•Project development support: review projects from the concept stage through to implementation, provide comments on feasibility and improvements and manage any impacts to Scheduling business practices (ex. IT updates).
•Coordination with operating and capital projects to ensure scheduling requirements are identified to project staff and contribute ideas and suggestions to ensure project success and reduce project risk and/or cost.
•Continually improve scheduling tools and processes to provide increased efficiencies and improved or new services to shippers and internal customers.
•Fully understand shipper, KMC and connected facility requirements and priorities and resolve competing priorities and disagreements. •Schedule as required on a covering basis.
•On call responsibilities and scheduling as needed.
•Management of an operating budget including forecasts and variance reporting. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned.
• Preference for technical diploma or certificate in Power Engineering, Petroleum or Logistics.
•Minimum ten years oil industry experience in a refinery/petrochemical or pipeline operating or scheduling capacity;
•Demonstrated mathematical and analytical ability combined with proficiency with excel spreadsheets and industry operating or scheduling software;
•Basic understanding of liquid hydraulics, oil accounting, measurement, quality and general pipeline operations.
•Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate scheduling activities into written instruction.
•Ability to deal effectively with constant change and stressful situations.
