We are looking for an experienced individual who has demonstrated strengths in leading a team in process re-engineering, spreadsheet/data base design and development and exception management. The successful candidate will add value through excellent people, project and change management skills. Reporting to the Manager, Fund Accounting the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Leading a team of Fund Accountants to ensure the timely and accurate calculation of net asset values, yields, cash reconciliations and other fund accounting outputPerforming end of day audit checks to support the calculation of Net Asset Values including the analysis of the increase or decrease of the Net Asset ValueIdentifying, resolving and when necessary, escalating all fund issues identified through analysis and exception variance reportingMonitoring existing controls and identifying key operational and financial risks to ensure effective controls are developed and implementedCoaching and developing staff through coaching opportunities, regular feedback sessions and semi-annual performance reviewsEnsuring adherence with policies, procedures and regulatory requirementsPreparing for yearly audits, external and internal auditors and regulatorsAssisting the Manager in staff and workflow planning to ensure proper coverage of daily work Assisting in the identification and implementation of procedural improvements and system enhancements. Updating procedural documentation as required.Assisting in various ad hoc duties as necessary The following qualifications are required:At least 5 years work experience in the mutual fund industry with a minimum of one year at the Supervisory levelPost-secondary education in business/commerce or equivalentWorking experience with Mpower is requiredCompleted or working towards an accounting designationExcellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracyStrong oral and written communication skillsProven analytical and problem-solving skillsAdvanced Excel skills in spreadsheet engineeringProven leadership, coaching and mentoring skillsAbility to work with minimal supervision while meeting strict deadlinesFlexible and adaptable with the proven ability to learn new applications and processes quickly, identify process improvements and work on projects: think “outside the box”Sound judgment, planning and decision making skills in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.Proven ability to lead and manage change in an operation settingAdvanced knowledge of MS Power PointProficient with MS Word, Outlook and VisioSystem conversion and implementation experience is an assetInternal Applicants:If you are interested in applying for this position please direct applications on-line using the “apply for this job” icon located at the bottom or to the left of the posting.
