Reporting to the Forest Industries Manager, this position is located in our Grande Prairie, AB office, working in the Pulp & Paper sector of our Process & Energy business. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Structural Engineering leadership for heavy industrial projects in a multi-disciplinary professional environment.The ideal candidate will be an energetic and self-motivated professional with in-depth project and practical experience who thrives on challenges in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be capable of multitasking on multiple small to large projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide Structural engineering design and technical support for projects in the Pulp & Paper industry throughout the project life cyclePrepare proposals, engineering specifications and contract documents Review project documents and drawings for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with applicable client standards and stakeholder requirementsParticipate or lead project design reviews Overseeing the work of staff throughout various project stages — from conceptual, feasibility, and detailed design to constructionReviews discipline progress, budgets and performance, and develops action plans to meet project objectivesLeading and mentoring intermediate and junior staffEstablish excellent working relationship with other functional areas and project managers and support cross-functional reviews and design improvements Develop close working relationship with Construction Management team, support active construction sites, answer RFIs, perform field reviews, support project constructability reviewsCreating an environment that fosters technical excellence, accuracy and timelinessTraveling to and visiting project sites during various stages of a project Evaluating existing facilities and structuresDesigning and/or overseeing design of modifications to existing industrial facilitiesWorking closely with process, piping, mechanical and electrical disciplines to deliver successful projectsMinimum 15 years of experience with a focus on industrial projectsPulp and Paper experience is an assetMill Experience is an assetProfessional Engineer (PEng) registered in Alberta or another Canadian provinceA willingness to travelFamiliar with Canadian and US building codes and regulationsAbility to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasksExcellent organizational, technical, writing, communication and computer skillsAbility to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environmentWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
