Key to this is your support to families and communities in the process of raising their children. In your role as a Children and Youth with Support Needs Generalist (CYSN), you may provide a combination of Family Support and guardianship functions. You will convene and facilitate assessment and planning processes with individuals and/or families who have met the CYSN eligibility criteria and determine the supports and services that they require.

Coordinating access to the best services available, you collaborate and build relationships with service providers, community partners, contracted agencies and foster parents. From an integrated service delivery system in the Ministry of Children and Family Development you may assist with placements, services for children, liaise and monitor contracts for services and ensure contract compliance and quality/appropriateness of services. This position requires strong administrative and organizational skills, the ability to work independently within a collaborative team setting and is comfortable working in a diverse culture environment.

The ability to make decisions based on facts/assessments and build effective relationships with the clients is essential. Preferred Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work OR Child and Youth Care OR Master of Education in Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA). NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ().

You must provide a 2. Expanded Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services OR Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree. PLUS, a minimum of two years of recent related OR job-specific work experience.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( by the closing date of this posting to be considered. Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

 Preference may be given to applicants with the following: Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA). Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families and/or communities, preferably within a Social Service sector with children or youth or adults with developmental disabilities and providing support/guidance to family and/or caregiver. Experience working with and planning for children and youth with enhanced support needs and in the community living sector.
