SIMULATION TECHNOLOGISTHEALTH AND COMMUNITY STUDIESThis full time position reports to the Manager of the NorQuest College Interdisciplinary Simulation Centre (NISC). The successful incumbent must have strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The incumbent must also be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of the technology, procedures, and instrumentation used in a simulation centre. This role will serve as the primary technical support analyst responsible for facilitating the diagnosis, repair, and troubleshooting of related audiovisual systems, simulation equipment, and supporting software services. They will be responsible for assessing, recommending and the ordering of technological equipment and supplies for the Centre. Another aspect of the role is having responsibility for staff training/mentoring on the safe and correct use of the equipment used to run and video tape scenarios. The incumbent will play a lead role in the day to day operation of the Centre. This position may require the individual to do evening or weekend work as required.RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitates open communication with the Centre’s manager, faculty/staff, students and program staff to ensure they are aware of any issues related to the technological or safe operation of equipment and mannequins.Provides mentorship and education to staff and students related to the operation and safe use of technological equipment. Has current technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting and repair for all equipment. Liaises with industry partners and stakeholders regarding new equipment and best practice in simulation. Operates technology during simulation events including system set up, operating, and monitoring of simulation control and debriefing rooms.Participates in ongoing professional development to ensure currency and fluency in the operation and maintenance of the technological systems. Able to work both independently and collaboratively with faculty and interdisciplinary teams.Coordinates warranty service calls for equipment as well as external service/repair of equipment.
