Successful candidate must have knowledge and experience in railroad/transit planning, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of rail transit and railroad alignments for transit systems. Duties will include planning, organizing and managing the work of a large staff of a multi-firm design team. Candidate shall have the ability to design complex track arrangements including special trackwork, maintenance yards, embedded and direct fixation track. Understand the track design relationships with systems engineering, drainage, utilities and operations are also required. Duties will also include managing the assembly of plans, specifications and construction cost estimates.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related engineering field (civil, structural, mechanical or electrical)Professional Engineer designation is strongly preferred but not required (P. Eng) in the province of Ontario12-15 years of experience in railroad engineering for light rail, heavy rail, or streetcar transit projectsDemonstrated ability to lead design tasks on medium to large scale transit/rail related projects, conversant in track alignment and design related workCapable of working across multidisciplined teams both onsite and remotely, manage client deliverables and expectationsMicroStation and Inroads experience preferredProficient in the use of Microsoft Word and ExcelCandidate shall have strong written and verbal and communications skillsManaging large and complex projects for transit and freight rail clients.Preparing proposals for new work.Business development / developing leads aiding in winning new work.Preparing, monitoring and forecasting budgets/costs and project schedules.Building project teams and managing project staffing.Preparing and monitoring scopes of work and methodologies.Chairing frequent meetings (internal and client).Overseeing quality review process for submittals.Non-project management project, or non-core, work could include some or all of design reviews, scheduling, report writing, presenting.Life at Gannett FlemingFor more than100 years, we’ve been a leader in global infrastructure solutions with a focus on planning, design, technology, and construction management services for a diverse array of markets and disciplines.
