We mentor our clients to ensure they meet the SR&ED program requirements, file the necessary forms and reports, and ultimately improve their chances of success with the program. Successful companies then have the ability to allocate further funding to research and development activities on an ongoing basis.We are currently seeking an exceptionalSenior Manager or Manager to be based out of our Kitchener/Waterloo office. In this capacity, you will be a market facing industry expert delivering BDO SR&ED services for the software industry, developing and cultivating client relationships and guiding the team’s continued success and sustained growth results. You will be an effective leader as part of a dynamic professional services delivery unit and will have the ability to work closely with our clients and peers while shaping the future of the practice.Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:Lead and support SR&ED engagements for software industry clients in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, as well as collaborating with our Markham office on engagements in the GTA and for clients located between the two officesAbility to identify, target and develop business opportunities to achieve growth objectivesEngage, identify and maintain relationships with potential clients/business professionals and prospectsPerform as the trusted and influential advisor to senior clients, internal and externalUnderstand the market and business environmentPrepare and present formal proposals on how the Firm can meet a prospect’s needsExamine client operations and processes to determine eligibility for various government grants, tax credits, and funding programs, developing the appropriate methodology to claim those activities and the methods to maximize those incentivesCoordinate a team of consultants on multiple client engagements/projectsAssess technical eligibility, structure projects, and prepare technical reportsSuccessfully manage team resources to achieve performance metricsPlan, organize and execute the technical and financial portion of engagements, including interview of technical and financial personnelEducation and Professional Skills/Knowledge:A recognized subject matter expert and leader with 3-5+ years of SR&ED experience, either working in the software industry and/or with another SR&ED consulting practiceDeep background in computer science or software engineeringStrong experience working with the software startup and incubator ecosystem in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, with an established network of industry contactsExperience in research and development projects and reporting processesA strong personal brandEstablished relationships with relevant industry organizationsProven project management experience and the ability to meet tight client deadlinesExcellent interpersonal and organizational skillsWillingness to learn new technologies and keep up to date with all CRA compliance policy changesAdvanced skills in MS Office environment (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)Our Vision:One Firm engaged to make a difference through valued relationships with our people, clients and communities.#LI-MM1
