Committed to service excellence, transparency in decision-making and responsible tax management, the Region delivers a wide range of municipal services that are customer-focused and cost-effective.The Region of Peel has recently completed a Strategic Planning process that engaged our residents and stakeholders to answer one question: “What can you imagine for the future of Peel?” All the feedback received formed the path forward and the strategic direction for the Region over the next 20 years.To learn more about the Region of Peel please visit our websiteor watch the Faces of Peelvideo to see how our employees impact the residents of Peel.Senior Finance AnalystContract Duration: Approximately fourteen (14) months Finance – Business and Financial PlanningThis position reportsto the Supervisor, Finance Support Unit.Responsibilities:Performs budgeting, forecasting and reporting for Transportation and TransHelp DivisionsIdentifies business trends and drivers and maintains/develops financial modelsDevelops and maintains cooperative, collaborative and strategic relationships with the divisions managers and directorsEngages business partners and establishes open dialogue on the financial related matters with regards to business sustainability, terms of council priorities and program financial outlookProvides financial advice and influence in program’s annual budget development, financial/management reporting and complex business issuesCreates meaningful reports/presentations that concisely identify root causes and clearly tell the storyReviews council reports/business cases, conducts cost-benefit analysis and provides business partners with sound financial recommendationsAssesses financial processes to determine the efficiency of the current practices and appropriateness of financial controlsProvides advice and interpretation of financial policies, by-laws, procedures and legislationsProvides coaching and review of the Financial Analyst’s work related to accounting activities (accruals, account reconciliations, journal entries etc.), management reporting, financial procedures and documentationQualifications:Accounting designations (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA) with a minimum of 5 years of progressive financial experience.
