About the role:
The Senior Finance Analyst reports to the Director of Treasury in a 5-person treasury team and is part of the Corporate Finance Office. The position is very involved with a number of insurance companies, compliance reporting, and hedging issues and assists the Director of Treasury.
Maintaining strong relationships with the internal and external stakeholders is a critical part of the role. The role requires the Senior Finance Analyst to work closely with the business units and other Corporate departments i.e. Accounting and Taxation.
Specific Accountabilities of the Senior Finance Analyst include:
Administration of the annual insurance renewal process between November 2018 – April 2019, and subsequent years
Management of daily inflows / outflows of insurance-related requests;
Dispersal of various monthly insurance items to relevant divisions; Collect and summarize the required data from the business units required during the annual insurance renewal.
Allocate insurance premiums, claims and expenses to business units.
Maintain listing of outstanding and settled insurance claims.
Assist the Director of Treasury with insurance inquiries from the business units.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the banks and management i.e. Quarterly Syndicate Covenant Report.
Assist in the gathering of KYC information.
Manage the monitoring of the credit agreement “baskets”.
Review month end journal entries for all loans, foreign exchange and bank transactions.
Review monthly bank account and loan reconciliations.
Assist with hedging analysis and execution, for currency, metal pricing, and interest rate risks
Manage the monthly inter-company reconciliation process
Includes analysis of all applicable inter-company relationships, with an understanding of legal entity structure
Calculation and monitoring of inter-company payments
Calculation and monitoring of interest on inter-company loans
Assist the Vice President & Treasurer and Director of Treasury with other treasury related issues.
College Diploma or University degree, with an emphasis in Finance.
5-7+ years post graduate experience, with at least two years of insurance experience is preferred
Lacking insurance experience, a qualified candidate should be able to demonstrate strong information management skills in a diverse company environment with multiple internal stakeholders.
CPA or CPA in progress or equivalent designation
Advanced spreadsheet analysis using MS office applications.
Analytical, thorough with an attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication.
Able to prioritize work and communicate on status changes when needed, reducing downtime and re-work required.
Can work independently and capable of organizing work to meet time commitments, keeping the team updated on status and delays of all ongoing projects.
Proven ability to work well with others. Demonstrates enthusiasm, confidence, dependability and a positive attitude.
Able to handle a large volume of information, with support from Director of Treasury.
