Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking aRadiation Protection (RP) Technician to join our dynamic world class team supporting one of the largest environment remediation projects in North America. Based in a thriving, south-eastern community, Port Hope, ON is accessible from the Durham Region; Peterborough, Oshawa, Whitby, Bowmanville, Courtice.Anticipatedduration of this assignment is through the end of 2018. Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the day-to-day operation of the site radiation protection program. Measurement of gamma radiation fieldsMeasurement of surface contamination using either radiation detectors or swipe samplingCollection of air samplesManagement of personal dosimeters for the workforceDeployment of radon monitorsEnsure control and calibration of all radiation detection equipmentDelivery of training to site workersSummary and analysis of routine data for compilation into routine reportsEnsuring compliance with site radiation safety procedures by workers and visitorsMaintenance of RP facilities and equipmentBachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering, radiation science or health physics (or related field) preferred OR College diploma / certificate in radiation science or radiation protection (or related field) preferredDemonstrate an understanding of radiation safety principles consistent with their background and trainingAbility to clearly and concisely communicate in the english language, both written and verbalAbility to sort, compile and summarize routine data using typical Microsoft Office products such as Excel Perform all assigned tasks diligently and thoroughly assuring complete and accurate documentation as requiredRP technicians are expected to actively support site activities by promptly responding to requests for RP services. Much of this work is outdoorsAll of this work will be done in a team environment (other RP staff, site staff, other employees and other individuals who are on site)Physical Labor: Radiation Protection Technicians are generally not involved in tasks that would be considered heavy laborAll RP techs must be capable of wearing PPE, including respirators if required; Site-specific radiation protection PPE will be providedAll RP Techs will be required to obtain the necessary Government of Canada security clearanceWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
