RESPONSIBILITIES Takes initiative to identify gaps and create corrective plan of action Support Registered Staff with risk management, critical incidences and documentation Will provide ongoing coaching, training, performance monitoring and corrective action as required Supports the Director of Care in ensuring the quality of clinical care provided to the patients by the nursing staff. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, residents and families regarding patient-centred care and related issues. Takes the lead in the co-ordination and implementation of best practice and risk management initiatives related to resident care Initiates investigative and corrective actions related to occupational health and safety; develops and monitors modified work programs for nursing personnel Works collaboratively on special projects, reviews, and other duties as may be assigned Participates in strategic planning for program development/improvement. Participates in on call rotations as a member of the management team to support residential operations Creates, prepares and presents comprehensive reports and summaries. Manages other assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high quality of work, organizational performance and continuous learning. QUALIFICATIONS Registered Nurse; BScN preferred Appropriate current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario required Registration with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario. Considerable experience in quality improvement and risk management Proven ability to analyze data, implement quality improvement, solve problems and resolve conflicts. Ability to collect and use information to thoroughly think through problems and situations; puts information from various sources together to see the ‘big picture’, and generate creative solutions Ability to work effectively individually and with others while prioritizing tasks to handle the most urgent first Excellent ability to motivate, lead, train and manage staff in a fast-paced environment Highly developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, project management and problem solving skills. Ability to interact and communicate effectively both orally and in writing Competency in Microsoft office suite Knowledge of legislation and policy and processes that affect long-term care. Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
