Focus will be on specific commodity and/or projects as assigned. Serving as the primary contact between Engineering and Suppliers to communicate Engineering Change Orders along with updating systems as necessary. Working closely with Buyers to understand the strategic activities within the different commodities.QUALIFICATIONSPost-secondary education in Business, Materials Management or related field of studyOne to two years of experience in purchasing, production planning/inventory control and/or customer serviceFlexible/Adaptable to ever-changing prioritiesAbility to rapidly respond to unforeseen developments and initiate actions to reduce adverse impacts to production or project schedulesStrong written and verbal communication skills in order to interact with Suppliers and co-workers to implement changes, resolve discrepancies and/or other supply chain related and operational mattersLocate data in a variety of forms such as invoices, shipping receipts, special order request forms and new product information sheets. Obtain data such as universal product codes, product descriptions and specifications, prices, discounts, taxes and comments about suppliers and merchandising methodsAbility to work independently, but also work in teams with co-workers to ensure effective forecasting, product distribution and marketing. Collaborate with other departments and other Supply Chain team members to make forecasts and build inventories that are compatible with Linamar’s sales strategies and budgetsAS400/IFS/MRP experience. Use computer applications and communications software as neededAdvanced Excel skillsEngage in continuous learning to keep up-to-date information on new products and market trends, and to operate new automated sales and inventory management systems. Learn through daily work experience, by reading trade publications and by talking with co-workers, colleagues and suppliersBasic knowledge and experience with Supply Chain Principals, Contract development and NegotiationsBasic understanding of commodity management principles and appropriate commodity cost driversAbility to develop concise reports and proposals regarding commodity and sourcing strategiesMRP database maintenanceAbility to read basic blueprint drawings considered an assetRESPONSIBILITIESEnsure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographical location and:The Global Operating System Plays;OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety management system standard;ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management system standard;TS 16949 Technical Specification Management and Linamar Quality Basics system standardsSupport, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core values and Leadership BehavioursMaintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success StrategyProcurement of goods and/or services required by Current Production or New Product Development needs. Prepare RFQ packages and communication with Suppliers on these packages and summarize formal bids to make recommendations on awarding businessExpedite orders as requiredCommunicate Engineer Change Orders to Suppliers and update software systems as requiredResolve purchase order/invoice discrepanciesGenerate, monitor and maintain department files.
