Reporting to the Senior Director, Patient Care Service and in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidelines, the Psychology Lead is responsible for providing practice leadership to contracted psychologists within the CDBC provincial Network. The Psychology Lead works closely with the program manager(s), operational and Professional Practice leadership across the Network to ensure practice and program standards are met; provides recommendation to the recruitment, selection, performance management and contracting decisions of contracted psychologists, recommending and leading quality changes in clinical service across the Network, supporting the development of contracts and models of service, and taking a lead role in practice discussions at an individual, service and strategic level within the Network.
The successful candidate for this position is not required to be based out of Vancouver BC.
Provides professional practice leadership to contracted psychologists within the Network, ensures registration, professional standards, practice guidelines, and code of ethics are understood, monitored, and maintained by collaborating with others and developing policies and procedures.
In collaboration with the Senior Director, Program Manager and Network Leadership, provides mentorship and practice guidance to the contracted psychologists through one on one consultation, clinical audit, report reviews and providing consultation to operational leaders on interpretation of clinical findings as required.
In partnership with and in line with regional and Network management operational requirements, develop a strategic plan for developing Network psychology services and provides recommendations regarding recruitment, screening, selection, performance management, and continuance of contracting with individual if concerns arise regarding practice in adherence with CDBC provincial Network standards.
In collaboration with operational, regional and professional practice leadership, identifies clinical, operational and professional process improvement opportunities; implements changes, monitors progress and evaluates quality improvement.
Alerts the operational leadership of the Network to discipline trends/issues impacting the programs and/or organizational directions and goals as appropriate.
Acts as a consultant to others (e.g. regional leadership medical staff, interdisciplinary team, other professional groups) regarding the utilization and strategic development of psychology services across the Network. The Psychology Lead will consult with the Head of Psychology and collaborate with respect to any Network practice initiatives that may have an impact on PHSA BCCH/BCW Psychology staff.
Acts as a consultant and clinical resource person in the Network with the discipline, the agency, and in academic and university environments, other health care facilities (including Regional Health Authorities and MoH) and community services.
May perform clinical practice activities in assigned areas as required and coordinate care with other disciplines.
Acts as the program representative and represents Network leadership as requested within service structure and broader provincial structures, meetings and committees
Facilitates and supports the development of educational in-services, presentations as well as research opportunities specific to the CDBC provincial Network.
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Doctoral degree in Psychology
plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent, related experience working in child health and/or child development and rehabilitation, including two (2) years in a senior supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of experience. Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.

Comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic assessment methods and tolls, and consultation techniques. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to travel locally and provincially.
