Contract (December 2018 to May 2020)For many years Richmond Hill has been advocating for the extension of the Yonge Subway north to Richmond Hill Centre at Highway 7. The 7.4 km extension will address a critical missing link in the public transit system and will benefit the businesses and residents of Richmond Hill. The Yonge North Subway Extension project is now at the preliminary design and engineering phase and is being undertaken by Metrolinx, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), the City of Toronto, York Region and the York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC). Reporting to the Manager, Grants and Strategic Initiatives, the Project Manager, Yonge Subway Extension Project is responsible for providing dedicated corporate project management of the Yonge North Subway extension during a critical timeframe in the project”s development focusing on aligning and promoting Richmond Hill”s interests as well as coordinating the Town”s support and collaboration for this project. You will:approach the project from a corporate and strategic perspective, focusing on the short and long term implications of project decisions on community building in Richmond Hillcoordinate, review and facilitate the Town”s participation in thepreliminary design and engineering of the municipal infrastructure workcoordinate input on development applicationswork with community stakeholderswork with Town staff involved on the project to ensure project plans and timelines are maintainedcoordinate the Town”s Technical Advisory Committeeparticipate in cross municipal Technical Advisory Group meetings to address technical issues and mattersliaison with YRRTC staff, other government partners and consultantsaddress project requirements such as building standards, by-law requirements, access and temporary use permits, emergency services requirementsupdate Council and senior staff on the progress of the projectYouwill have a university degree in Urban and Regional Planning or Civil Engineering combined with a minimum of 7 years of municipal experience managing projects.Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) or accreditation is an asset.You have:Demonstrated background in planning and construction of strategic municipal projectsStrong facilitation and project management skillsStrong analytical, strategic thinking and problem solving skillsAbility to influence without authority, using well-developed negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with Council, staff and the communityAbility to work independently as well as be a key player in a team environmentDetail oriented and technically savvywith proficient computer skills particularly in MS Project, MS Office SuiteDemonstrates good judgment and makes sound decisionsShows commitmentto personal growth, development and leadership opportunitiesShares new ideas and challenges the status quoProven written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicatewith honesty, openness, respect and trust, andTakes initiative to participate in a culture of learning, mentoringand sharingYou demonstrate the Town’s corporate values of care, collaboration, courage and serviceYou must possess a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated).
