Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer, Transmission & Distribution. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is located in our Calgary, AB office. This role has overall responsibility for leading a team as well as Transmission and or Distribution projects from conception to construction. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you.Wood services multiple industries including Mining & Minerals, Power & Energy and Infrastructure performing consulting and EPCM services executing world-class projects on five continents.Key ResponsibilitiesLeading projects from conception stage through construction, including mentoring junior engineers and designersWriting and planning project scope, proposals, estimates, change notices, budgets and similar documentsManaging, planning and scheduling a team of engineers, designers and drafters in the design of 12 kV to 500 kV overhead and underground transmission and substation projectsParticipating in client design and constructability review meetings, act as the main technical interface for local clients where requiredMaintaining and enhancing relationships with internal groups and external contractors and clientsTraveling and visiting client sites and offices during project definition, detailed design and constructionChecking specifications, drawings and test reports to ensure high quality designEnsuring the latest safe practices and methods are integrated into the designFulfilling the duties of Professional Record for work within field of practiceCoordinating installation and commissioning activities with the utility and subcontractorsResponding to information requests from construction and ensuring project documentation is completedMonitoring timesheets and man-hours expendedEngineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Canadian Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer with APEGAMinimum 8 years of engineering experience in a Transmission and Distribution Utility or EPCM organization designing transmission and distribution projectsExcellent written and verbal communication skills3-5 years of demonstrated experience managing groups of engineers, designers, and draftersGeneral understanding of electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines as they relate to the design of transmission and distribution projects for coordination purposesWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
