Postdoctoral Fellow in Regenerative Medicine
Sunnybrook Research Institute (affiliated with the University of Toronto) has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Marc Jeschke, Division of Biological Sciences, Sunnybrook Research Institute and Ross Tilley Burn Centre (RTBC). The RTBC is the largest burn centre in Canada and treats patients with minor and major burn injuries. The PI has appointments with the University of Toronto Department of Surgery and Divisions of Plastic and General Surgery, Department of Immunology and Institute of Medical Sciences.
Description
The desired incumbent is an
enthusiastic, highly motivated , organized individual with exceptional interpersonal skills who will enjoy collaborating and conducting research in a stimulating environment. The candidate will conduct research in the area of regenerative medicine which encompasses Stem cell biology, 3D-skin printing, biology of wound healing and scarring. We made recently major strides in these areas and hope to have novel therapeutic approaches that can be implemented into the clinical scenario. The advantage of this study is the direct clinical implication of the research; once mechanisms are discovered intervention will be tested and a clinical trial will soon follow.
Candidates should be highly motivated with an interest in translational research, scarring, stem cells, wound healing, and inflammation.
Skills and Qualifications:
PhD or PhD (c) (or combined MD/PhD) in Biological Sciences. Molecular Biology, or Immunology
Experience in some or all of the following techniques: tissue processing, imaging (e.g. confocal microscopy), flow cytometry, biochemical techniques (e.g. western blot, IP’s, etc.), primary cell culture, animal/rodent models, molecular biology techniques (real-time gene expression, etc.)
Some familiarity with isolating and manipulating mouse or human stem cells
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-oriented
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Proven track record of publications in high quality journals required (minimum of 5 publications); some successful minor grant funding desirable
