In 2017, the Michener Institute agreed to undertake the development of the new comprehensive
Personal Support Worker (PSW) Registry
on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC). When completed, it will assure PSWs, employers, and the public that the care being provided by Registered PSWs is competent and safe. Using evidence informed research, environmental scans and stakeholder engagement, the incumbent is responsible for developing short-term and long-term policies and procedures
in areas such as education, practice, governance, title protection, etc. to support
a new Personal Support Worker Registry.
The incumbent is responsible for presenting to, engaging with and leading working groups across the health care and education sectors to inform the policy development .
The work also includes the development of training materials and guides to support the policies to facilitate operational transfer to the future host of the registry.
This is an opportunity for highly self-directed flexible and adaptable individual and who can work within a project management framework with regular check-ins with the project lead and the rest of the team.
Undergraduate degree in relevant field, Master’s degree preferred
2-3 years of experience in policy and procedure development / writing
Previous registry experience preferred
The incumbent must have proven capacity for exceptional writing
Strong organizational and communication skills
Well-developed analytical and research skills
Ability to form strong relationships with other departments and external stakeholders
Satisfactory Canadian Police Clearance document required upon hire
Some travel required to stakeholder engagements
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
