At Waiward…You Are Waiward, and Waiward Is You!Job PurposeThe Piping and Mechanical Estimator reports directly to the Construction Estimating Lead and is responsible for performing quantity take off, costing and sub-trade analysis for presentation, and final review of major items.Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.Accountable for the preparation, accuracy, compliance and timeliness of all bid submission documents.Assess and interpret all tender submission documentation, including terms and conditions, highlighting risk and opportunity and incorporating into bid development.Review and incorporate applicable historical data such as previous Rates of Placement, local productivity, relevant lessons learned and site visit feedback into bid submission documents.Accountable for the inclusion and support of a resource loaded schedule into bid submission documents.Accountable for issuing, leading and reviewing subcontractor ”Request for Quote” submittals.Calculate the total cost of piping direct cost and incorporate into the bid submission.Support the facilitation and preparation of Project Execution Plans.Communicate with the client and technical staff as required.May perform other related duties as assigned.Successful completion of post-secondary education or journeyman red seal ticket.1-3 year”s experience in estimating, preferably a range of mechanical and piping with a substantial portion of experience with an industrial contractor.ASET designation considered an asset.Must specialize in the complete preparation of an estimate; including quantity takeoffs, pricing, forming systems, scheduling, construction technique and logistics.In-depth knowledge of construction material and techniques.Experience in evaluating and executing various contracting strategies.Experience in tender assembly with the assessment of estimate.Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills that are complimented by effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.Ability to make timely and objective decision, while displaying a strong attention to detail.Proficient in MS Office software.Working ConditionsThe incumbent is required to work in an office environment and frequent construction sites with moderate noise when required. The incumbent will also be required to work a flexible schedule to ensure submission deadlines.Physical RequirementsThe incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing assembly specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading.
