Full Time Opportunity
BC Children’s Hospital provides a full range of services for children with heart disease including complex surgical care, transplantation, interventional cardiology procedures, electrophysiologic procedures and diagnostic cardiac catheterization, MRI and CT services. Outside of cardiac care, BC Children’s hospital provides a full range of pediatric surgical services, including interventional radiology and sedation services for oncology, gastroenterology, burns & radiotherapy.
Your appointment will include participation in the care of children with heart disease at BC Children’s Hospital including surgical cardiac cases, non-cardiac surgery in children with heart disease and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures outside the operating room. In addition, your appointment will include participation in clinical anesthesia outside of cardiac anesthesia and participation in the activities of the acute pain service. As an integral member of the Department of Anesthesia, your participation and leadership will contribute to the improvement pediatric cardiac anesthesia and general pediatric anesthesia. You will have the opportunity to make an impact in both education and research at BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia.
Candidates should have completed an MD degree and anesthesia training and have further subspecialty pediatric training. In addition candidates should have training and in pediatric cardiac anesthesia. You must be eligible for licensure in British Columbia and with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in British Columbia.
Current clinical expertise in pediatric cardiac anesthesia is essential.
The ideal candidate will bring additional academic qualifications and a passion for research or education to the position.
Successful candidates will be recommended for appointment to the University of British Columbia.. Academic rank is dependent on qualifications and will be recommended by the Department of Anesthesia, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine.
