Toronto, OntarioJob TypeTemporaryJob ID16454Job DescriptionPerform a variety of payroll processing activities, including computing wage payments, verifying the monthly payroll reports and preparing month end journal entriesProcess terminations including final pay and Record of EmploymentProcess new hire forms and respond to inquiries new employees may have regarding benefits and payrollUpdate changes related to payroll, and miscellaneous changes in payroll systemAssist with analysis and reconciliation of payroll, liability and operating accounts, government remittance and source deduction reconciliationsProcess workers compensation premium payments and assist with annual reconciliationsTrack vacation entitlement and usage for each employee; calculate vacation days payable upon departureRespond to inquiries and prepare reports for various internal and external sources on a variety of financial mattersRespond to inquiries from employees regarding enrollment, change in dependent status, and other general inquiriesAssist in the maintenance and tracking of employee benefit records including the accumulation and use of vacations, miscellaneous leaves of absence, etc.RequirementsQualificationsA minimum of two years of directly relevant experienceBasic understanding of the accounting cycle, specifically the payroll cycle, through to preparation of payroll entries and reconciliation of year-end balancesBasic understanding of payroll regulations and practices across Canada, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, workers compensation legislation, and employee payroll documentationKnowledge of employee benefit administration proceduresKnowledge of payroll software system applicationsStrong data entry and word processing skillsMicrosoft Office Suite, with a high proficiency in Microsoft ExcelBilingualism an asset
