This is an exciting opportunity for experienced environmental, building or occupational health and safety professionals looking to further develop their career and work on unique and exciting projects.This is a key position in our Health safety and Environment group. The candidate will provide project management and technical support to our dynamic and growing team supporting the construction, building management and decommissioning industries across Canada. The Candidate will also provide client support on a number of project portfolios and key environmental program initiatives.Key Responsibilities Typical duties may include: Project managementAssess and prepare proposalsProvision of designated substances and hazardous materials surveys and preparing management plans (i.e. lead, mercury, asbestos, PCBs, etc.)Provision of mould evaluations and indoor air quality assessmentsProvision of asbestos abatement and mould remediation inspectionsProvision of air sampling and calibration of equipmentPhase Contrast Microscopy analysis for asbestos and other fibresSupervising or completing senior technical assignments including assessment and abatement programs, specification development, and reportingCompletion of occupational hygiene field programs including noise and worker exposure monitoringAssisting building science and architectural professionalsTraining internal staff and clients in hazardous building materials, mould and other occupational health and safety topicsPrepare and submit high quality technical reports and technical documents; Provide technical review.Client and regulatory liaisonBusiness developmentStay current in area of professional practice and become recognized as a specialist internally and externallyOptimize use of internal human and physical resources in order to deliver the highest quality products on time and on budgetBuild strong and enduring relationships between Wood and its clientsMentor and assist in the training and development of more junior staffWork occasional off-hour shifts as required in order to accommodate assessment and inspection services required as part of evening, night and weekend workWork on project sites within Manitoba and occasional out of province including working in conjunction with other officesUniversity degree or Technical Diploma graduate with a directly related degree in engineering, science, occupational health and safety or building scienceProfessional certifications such as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Registered Occupation Hygienist. Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Registered Occupational Hygiene Technologist are considered an assetMinimum 8 years industry or combined industry and academic experience conducting environmental site assessments, contaminated site investigations and remediation projectsStrong written and oral communication (English)Strong workplace safety practices and trainingClass 5 driver’s license and a good driving record (driving abstract required)Participate in criminal records checks and/or drug screening for site accessStrong communication and report writing skillsDemonstrated word processing and computer skillsSelf-motivated with good organizational skills, can take initiative, handle challenges, prioritize multiple tasks, and provide superior service to clientsDemonstrates a commitment to personal and professional career developmentA background in building construction or building scienceSpecific asbestos and/or mould training considered an assetMust be fit to wear a respiratorWood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
