As a National Manager, Broking Strategy & Operations, you will report directly to the Chief Broking Officer and have 25direct reports ranging from entry to senior levelcolleagues.Your impact as aNational Manager, Broking Strategy & OperationsIn collaboration with national leadership, your goal is to execute on global organizational and broking strategies within Canada. Utilizing data and analytics, you will strengthen the impact of these strategies by delivering business results through enhancing client value, driving revenue and creating tools and resources for the broader organization. This role serves an important function in the Global Aon Broking Community. You are not only the ‘right hand’ of the Chief Broking Officer (CBO) and wider broking community, you help provide the communication framework for customers, employees and executives. Once familiar with the role and responsibilities, the CBO rely on you to troubleshoot and handle the daily needs of the Broking department. At times the National Manager will respond to the Group Executive and clients, on behalf of the CBO and be expected to be the ‘innovator and forward thinker’ and to look for new technologies or companies to acquire and develop.Job Responsibilities:Department ManagementYou will be responsible for a twenty-five-member national organization comprised of three distinct teams with functional areas that are complimentary to each other: Operations, Analytics and Data Management.The diverse team will provide you with opportunities for mentorship, training and succession planning activitiesThe department operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment which requires ability to prioritize and manage resources effectively and efficientlyRevenue / Market ManagementCollaborate with Analyst team to develop strategic reporting to inform and support national and global executive decision makingManaging/developing insurer relationships, including the hosting of carrier business planning meetings on a semi-annual basis with the executive teams of Canada leading insurersWorking closely with Legal and Compliance you will have responsibility for the management and oversight of carrier compensation and service agreements to drive revenue and deliver value to clients.Managing national communications to staff across Canada on market trends, industry developments and internal strategy in addition to developing thought leadership pieces for industry publications, including the Insurance Market Report seriesOperational Excellence/Talent ManagementCollaborate with other departments including Finance in managing data systems, organizational training, strategic projects and the Operations teamManage and implement national operating standards and best practices, while leading the knowledge sharing and training agenda to ensure colleagues have the information, skills and tools at their disposal to achieve client goals in the marketplaceDevelop employee engagement projects while managing the annual recognition programsEnsure the firm is operating within internal and external regulatory frameworks to mitigate exposure and enable teams to focus on delivering client valueData & AnalyticsManaging business integration of analytics through training and development of appropriate reporting tools through Risk/View for ColleaguesOversight of the Halifax Data Center ensuring consistency and quality of inputs to supply analytical tools and reportingCoordinating Broking organization performance management process with a focus on impacting broking leversCollaborate with Aon Inpoint on analytical initiatives managing the impact of consultancy services to business operationsDirect point of contact for our Data and Analytics teams in Ireland, Singapore and KrakowAdditional responsibilities will include:Attending meetings (including regulatory, board, leadership, market and client meetings) and calls on the behalf of the CBO if he/she couldn”t not make it.Helping their CBO prioritize their time and appointments.Writing first drafts of proposals, emails, letters etc.Taking notes during the meetings that the CBO attends and making sure that the action items from the meeting are executed.Acting as the communication arm for the CBO with other executives in the organization, clients or major stakeholders.Acting as a sounding board to the CBO for new ideas and initiatives.Acting as the facilitator for the CBO’s colleagues or employees (department heads or other SVPs that report to him/her). This means being able to communicate wants, needs, concerns, ideas from employees to the CBO in an effective and efficient way.it’s important to be very organized and work efficiently and effectively. You must be people oriented and objective and communicate well with different personality types. It’s also helpful to have the ability to think ahead and catch problems before they arise.Above all else, this person must be willing to use their power and influence to lead from behind.
