The incumbent will ensure worker/contractor safety through compliance with Lafarge Safety policies and procedures, and adherence to the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia. The Mobile Shop Foreman”s primary responsibility is to facilitate the planning and execution of Lafarge and supplier Mobile Maintenance strategies and best practices.Texeda Island is located about 8 kilometres southwest of the city of Powell River, it is a great community that offers its residents a wide range of activities that includes fishing, sailing and kayaking.Safety Culture: Promote safety culture through engagement with employees and contractors, implementing and maintaining local and regional initiatives with an objective of zero harm. Administer and promote policies & procedures and ensure that site meets or exceeds all government and Lafarge guidelines.Customer Focus: Develop and preserve direct communication between the maintenance and operations teams, with the purpose of developing, coordinating and maintaining short, medium and long term maintenance schedules ensuring quarry equipment availability and reliability targets are met or exceeded.Financial Management: Assist Maintenance Manager is development of the annual mobile maintenance budget and capital expenditures by providing detailed information on equipment condition. Execute annual mobile maintenance budget and perform analysis on identified cost savings opportunities. Conduct repairs in accordance with heavy mobile equipment leasing contract guidelines.Labour Management/Personnel Development: Adhering to local CBA, supervise site employees. Directly responsible for the motivation, scheduling, training, developing and supervision of all mobile equipment maintenance personnel in order to promote safety, efficiency, and customer service.Relationships with Other Functions:Reports directly to Maintenance Manager.Works closely with the Fixed Equipment Supervisor, Electrical Supervisor, Purchasing & Warehouse Supervisors, Safety Supervisor and Quarry Shift Supervisors.Specific Accountabilities:Safety: Near Miss and incident reporting, compliance of safety policy by employees, LTI management, execution of employee and contractor safety management programs.People Development/HR: Administer collective agreement, safety/personnel training, coach employees to be safe, efficient, and engagedFinancial: Assist with target fleet exercise, follow annual mobile equipment repair budget, maintenance scheduling, and track relevant performance Indicators. Dimensions:Follows vision and direction set by Maintenance ManagerWorks closely with Mobile Administrator to schedule resources, repairs, and interacts with leasing suppliers on maintenance of their fleet.Schedule and plan safe efficient repair of heavy mobile equipment. 11 Direct Reports, 6 mechanics and 4 fuel & lubrication employees, 1 administrator.Supports the administration of a large sized HME fleet consisting of both owned and leased equipment.>20 OTR units>20 light duty units & support equipmentHave a positive presence on shop floor by actively supervising employees. 80% of time being spent supervising and 20% administrative.Qualification ProfileEducation:Trade qualification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Red Seal certification.2 – 5years of supervisory experience in heavy mobile equipment or related field.BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources Open Pit Shiftboss Certificate (preferred).Experience and Skill Set:Number one focus being safety of team.Strong communication, planning & organizational skills in a time sensitive environment.Excellent work ethic and demonstrated ability to take direction.Proficiency with various computer applications including Microsoft Office and fleet management programs. SAP experience is an asset.Experience with managing effectively within a unionized environment.Ability to mentor, coach, and lead direct reports to effectively maintain mobile fleet.
