We continue to remain at the forefront of the testing services industry, building an enviable reputation.Location: ALS Metallurgy, KamloopsReports to: Manager, Metallurgical LabPosition Type: Full-TimeAbout the Position: Using standard procedures, the laboratory analyst performs all flotation tests, gravity concentration tests, magnetic separation tests, cyanidation tests and all other testing as required by the client.Specific Responsibilities:Supervise training on rougher flotation and/or gravity separation, and/or cyanide leaching;Competent knowledge of grind calibrations and laser sizings;Operate and perform maintenance on grinding rolls, stirred mills, Malvern laser sizer, scales, compressors, filtration system, pH meters;Prepare test work reagents;Ensure all prepared and available samples are accounted for in the lab;Training in maintaining and organizing inventory of calibration standards, production logs and equipment records;Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety requirements within the Safety Manual and communicate all safety concerns to the Supervisor or Manager;Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Other duties as assigned.Physical Demands:Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;Able to lift filled 20 litre containers (25 kg);Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;Ability to stand for a full shift;Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.About You:The ideal candidate would have:Recognized degree or technical diploma in Chemistry or Sciences required;Three months of laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation or a related field required.You would also have:Analytical and mechanical skills;Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality;Organized, highly motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team;Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues;English communication skills (written and verbal);Basic MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.Looking for further details?Candidates interested in this opportunity should apply online no later than October 25, 2018;We would like to thank everyone for their interest in ALSbut only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted;For the employee referral bonus program, this position is eligible for a LevelB bonus award.ALS is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where the different strengths and perspectives of each employee are both recognized and valued.
