Verify receipt of correct types and quantities of products such as cutting tool bits and blades by scanning labels on packaging. Identify hazard symbols and risk phrases on Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System labels to ensure proper handling of materials.• Ability to plan work processes and schedules to ensure full use of all equipment and workers from project conceptualization through materials acquisition, production and quality control inspections to meet customers’ specified timelines. Total and approve estimates and invoices for materials ordered. Calculate extensions, discounts for volume purchases and taxes.• Possess excellent communication skills in order to discuss daily operations with co-workers. Discuss material properties and other technical matters with material handlers, engineers, manufacturers’ representatives and other specialists.• Ability to select suppliers for fabrication materials, tools and shop supplies. Consider pricing, product quality and suppliers’ reputations for timeliness and reliability.• Ability to work as a team leader to coordinate work processes for material handlers, machinists and others to ensure customers’ orders are completed on time. Participate as a team member with other management staff to resolve production problems.• Ability to use basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Use computer-operated machinery. For example, print delivery slips using computerized printers.• Possess drive and motivation to continuously learn through initiatives and interactions with co-workers, colleagues at other shops, suppliers and customers. Attend manufacturers’ sponsored training on new equipment and materials.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Manage all material personnel• Responsible for accurate inventory numbers• Responsible for monthly reconciliation• Accurately forecast of monthly sales• Minimize transportation costs for: outgoing shipments and incoming materials.• Develop strategy towards meeting objectives with respect to;• effective utilization of plant capacity;• ensure customer scheduling requirements are met through credible attainable production schedules;• monitor capacity to ensure co-ordination between production schedules and shipping schedules to meet customer requirements.• Organizing material requirements as to;• keep the purchased inventory and supplies to such a low level without slowing down production with waiting time;• optimize sources to obtain best costs;• monitor supplier compliance performance as to delivery, service and costs;• control work-in-process and finished goods inventory;• monitor production use and scrap factor.• Monitor consigned material flow in consideration of;• floor space usage;• ensure first one in, first one out;• accommodate lot control traceability;• Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution.• Perform other duties/projects as assigned.Linamar is committed to promoting accessible recruitment as outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
