Position: Marketing & Communications Specialist
Department: Altum Health

Reports to: Site Manager
Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Status: Permanent Full-time
PURPOSE
As an integral member of Altum Health (AH), the Marketing & Communications Specialist has the ownership and accountability for all AH marketing and communications related activities, both external and internal. The Marketing & Communications Specialist works with and supports the AH Leadership & Management Team and represents all employees in this respect.
From a marketing perspective, the principal responsibilities include: supporting the marketing/sales process with marketing support (designing/developing individualized marketing packages, following up with key contacts, organizing meetings and/or focus groups etc); acting as a key resource for marketing/sales personnel (prepare proposals, RFPs, follow-up on documentation etc); acting in conjunction with marketing/sales personnel to ensure all information related to marketing/sales is accurate and delivered in a timely basis; researching future potential customers; communication to potential customers (finding key decision makers, effectively handling inquiries from customers, conducting mini needs analysis etc); budget/sales target review with AH Leadership; research and quality/administrative activities; participation in marketing events inside and outside Altum (coordinating, assisting in set-up etc); performing other duties consistent with the job classification within AH, as required.
From a communications perspective, the principal responsibilities include: the formal internal and external print and digital communications programs of various stakeholders at AH, acting as a communications consultant and providing expertise on digital communications; acting as editor – electronic and print of the various communications; ensuring Altum’s programs and people are regularly covered through Altum’s and UHN’s internal communications program; understands the culture at Altum, inclusive of issues or concerns of employees and raises these to the AH Leadership Team; actively participates on AH committees; designs communications strategies for corporate initiatives, provides editorial and content leadership on a variety of corporate documents. Finally performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations
Develops and implements a marketing plan for Altum Health and works with AH Leadership Team to develop site based marketing plans, reviewing and revising annually
Develops promotional materials for use on website and in other media (brochures, postcards, flyers, awards, etc.)
Develops press releases, fact sheets, tool kits, infographics, social media posts, blog posts, and other forms of communication
Develops and implements social media plan (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, etc.)
Leads the response to Request for Proposals (RFPs) process, engaging all key contributors and ensuring appropriate content is completed on time
Writes, designs, and manages regular communications to customer database including direct mail campaigns
Manages online and print advertising
Devises and implements media and outreach strategies around special events
Assists AH Management/Leadership Team to plan and coordinate event related activities, meetings, events and special projects as required
Assists with and attends special events: organizing events, including pre-event preparation, POP installation, logistics, invitations, working with suppliers and speakers, printing, promotion, site inspection, catering, on site event logistics, including working with suppliers, venue and volunteers (may be outside regular business hours)
Assists in the drafting and contacting (via letters, emails or phone) prospective clients
Assists with phone calls and email community outreach
Assists in the preparation of spreadsheets, reports, mail merges, graphics, reports, slides, PowerPoint presentations as requested
Keeps abreast of trends and new developments in the industry
Assists AH Leadership Team with competitive market analysis and data gathering; performs internet and other searches pertaining to future potential customers, WSIB costs and work injury statistics and communicating those findings in a timely and appropriate manner to the applicable personnel; searches for articles and or documents at the direction of sales personnel to support their activities
Works with internal and external suppliers for all marketing and communication related items
Updates information, files and/or documents on an on-going basis to ensure they are maintained in a current and accurate manner
Prepares expense forms, cheque requisitions, processes invoices and other documents related to marketing and communication initiatives as required
Performs other related clerical activities including assembling, photocopying, distributing materials, and other related activities

Communications
Provides strategic communications expertise/support for external/internal communications and corporate objectives – print and electronic
Develops and implements a communications plan for Altum Health, reviewing and revising annually
Composes internal and external company communications (including but not limited to, All Employee emails, news releases, thank-you letters and responses to inquiries, memorandums, and reports)
Acts as editor of the weekly employee newsletter (eNews), ensuring sites, programs and people are regularly covered in the newsletter
Provides strategic communications support for AH Leadership and Management Team
Responsible for print and online news content
Enhances public awareness and the visibility of all UHN activities through the website
Provides strategic communications support for other ongoing projects – print and electronic
Participates in committee activities; designs communications strategies for corporate initiatives
Finds opportunities for internal and external content with a view to supporting a more flexible approach to both intranet and internet
Stays on top of current digital trends and technologies with a view to finding the most useful and usable communication tools for Altum
Manages External Company Website & Intranet
Develops and implements a marketing/communication plan for the Altum Health website and digital tools
Ensures that both the AH website and intranet site are up to date with relevant and fresh content
Enhances public awareness and the visibility of all AH activities through the website/social channels
Finds opportunities for internal and external content with a view to supporting a more flexible approach to both intranet and internet
Acts as expert resource as we develop new content for AH website
Provides all departments with support in understanding how to use the tools and templates associated with the new web site
QUALIFICATIONS
• 8+ years experience in a similar role
• A university degree with a background in business from one of the top tier universities is an asset
• Experience generating consumer insights and strategic marketing programs with a disciplined marketing approach
• Integrated Marketing experience with strong online/digital marketing skills
• Strategic internal and external communications experience with a social media focus
• Company website/Intranet management experience is a must
• Experience working for companies that understand their customer
• Experience building brand loyalty
• Experience with new products/services or emerging markets is an asset
• Strong business acumen combined with an understanding and experience utilizing a varied marketing approach; physical and digital media
• Depth and breadth in analytics that will inform strategic business decisions
