One Holts The Manager of Strategy and Business Development serves on a small team in the Office of the President helping drive the company’s strategic planning, executive governance, and overall strategy & growth levers for the business. The team is accountable for a mix of ongoing planning activities both internally and with Group ownership, as well as ad hoc special projects to provide support to key initiatives in the business. As a key accountability of this role as part of the broader team, the Manager provides rigour and discipline around Network investments, our largest capital outlays with >$400M earmarked across 5 years. The Manager takes scope and direction from the DVP and collaborates within the team and across the organization to drive to actionable outputs. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following: Store network investment business cases: Own the development and delivery of robust business cases for key network investment decisions Manage overall prioritization process including development of annual budget and draw-down of budget as projects actualized For each business case: understand key objectives, force prioritizations, gather inputs (sales and costs) working especially closely with merchandising and store network teams, pressure test and triangulate key assumptions, team with Finance for return modeling, create compelling output presentations, manage sequence of sign-offs Help build the annual budget, working with stakeholders to understand key spend priorities Conduct post-mortems to understand drivers of gaps vs. expectations on performance Strategic planning: Support the development of the five-year and one-year plans and underlying initiatives by collaborating within the team and across the organization to help set key themes and strategies based on internal and external opportunities Help capture, pressure test, track, and support contingency planning for corporate initiatives as defined through the strategy Support the development of key reviews and presentations through the annual and quarterly reviews (internally and with Group) owning key sections of content and overall coordination Executive governance: Support management of the President’s Office and Executive Team agendas by helping track and follow up on key priorities and actions Support development of key communication materials and forums including Executive Team meetings, SLT meetings, Town Halls, etc. Strategic deep dives & analytics Provide strategic, analytical, and communication support for critical projects For identified projects: structure, push fresh & outside thinking, frame and align internal views, conduct analytics, and develop compelling output presentations taking direction from DVP and key business leads External trends and insights Monitor trends and extract implications for the organization Review and summarize competitor announcements and earnings reports for executives Develop and maintain ongoing view of market size, growth, share Support communication and integration of learnings into business decisions Corporate Development Identify and evaluate disruptive / out of the box ideas for sales and profit growth Team with key functions or outside support partners to evaluate M&A, partnerships, and new business models The ideal candidate: Has an Undergraduate degree in business or economics from a leading program Has a strong background in business, retail, and analytics Has at least five years of experience in consulting, investment banking, strategy/business development, or retail Thinks critically and creatively, has the ability to respectfully question assumptions and existing thinking Has an underlying interest and curiosity around retail and luxury fashion Collaborates well across functions, has the ability to operate in a supportive and coaching role to enable the business and key executives Is comfortable operating in large data sets Is a strong communicator both orally and in written presentations Is experienced in Microsoft Office and other data management & presentation tools The measures of success: On-time and accurate delivery and sign-off of Network business cases On-time delivery and sign-off of strategic plan and supporting elements Delivery of organization’s strategic initiatives Positive feedback from key functions and executive leadership on collaboration and support
