MANAGER, NORQUEST INTERDISCIPLINARY SIMULATION CENTREHEALTH AND COMMUNITY STUDIESReporting to the Associate Dean, Projects and Innovation in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies, the Simulation Centre Manager is a key player in assisting the division in meeting outcomes. This position takes a strong strategic role, providing a vision and direction for the Simulation Centre to evolve as a unique interdisciplinary service collaborating with a complex portfolio of programs in the division. This vision embraces inclusion and diversity as trademarks for simulations in the Faculty of Health and Community Studies. Strategic direction and initiatives are complemented by a strong operational focus, as the individual is responsible for the coordination and supervision of operational, technical, human resources, projects related to the Centre. This position also champions and oversees research projects in the area, ensuring the Centre maintains best practice standards in simulation and the variety of program areas that it serves. With a strong collaborative, interdisciplinary focus, the Manager provides leadership and direction to the Simulation Centre’s human resource staff and faculty.RESPONSIBILITIES:Leading a Vision for the Future:Champions and implements the vision of the NorQuest Interdisciplinary Simulation Centre (NISC), maintaining a trademark focus of diversity and inclusion, while ensuring that best practices in simulation are applied.Leverages stakeholder relationships to assess possible business opportunities and areas for future growth related to simulation educationEmbraces learning about trends, issues, and best practice research in simulationBest Practice in Operations and Resources:Monitors and manages the budget in a fiscally responsible mannerImplements plans based on solid knowledge of the principles related to best practices in simulationLeads the day-to-day operations of the CentreDemonstrates the hands-on and technical knowledge and skills related to implementing hi-fidelity simulationTracks and monitors identified program issues related to student/instructor use of the simulation centreCollaborates with Timetabling unit to establish/design a schedule that meets the educational needs of the centre.Coordinates the maintenance, repair and safety aspects of all equipment in the simulation labsParticipates in the assessment of LPN’s who have been mandated to take XHLT 2000 and consults with CLPNA as necessaryTeam Leadership:Recruits and onboards interdisciplinary team membersAssesses, develops and promotes the ongoing educational needs and performance of the teamCollaborates with staff to assess and monitor workload and ensures the staffing mix is appropriate for the work requiredModels teamwork by acting as replacement for staff in situations as deemed necessaryEmpowers team to be ambassadors for teaching with simulation throughout the divisionCommunication and Collaboration:Works collaboratively to resolve day to day operation issuesCollaborates with program Chairs/Associate Chairs, faculty and staff to determine ongoing program simulation needs and identify opportunities for further introducing simulation into program curriculumUtilizes superior communication skills when collaborating with students, staff, leaders, and external stakeholdersAdvises students on the remediation options available via the XHLT 2000 courseRepresenting NISC and NorQuest College:Represents NorQuest College on external simulation committees and in other professional forms to establish and maintain a network that promotes the College’s interest in these areasAssists in identifying research opportunities and provides oversight for simulation research projectsParticipates in and represents NISC at Faculty of Health and Community Studies Leadership committee meetingsContributes to program accreditation reports in areas related to the use of simulation as an educational toolLeads tours of the Simulation Centre as requiredQUALIFICATIONS:Masters degree in a Health Science profession and licensure with the corresponding licensing bodyCertification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator or prepared to obtain such certification within the year following being hiredDemonstrated experience in an interdisciplinary care environment, with exceptionally strong communication and collaboration skills3-5 years previous recent management/supervisory experience2-3 years previous experience working in a post-secondary simulation centreConfident working knowledge of high-fidelity simulation technologiesPrevious teaching experience in classroom or clinical lab desiredKnowledge related to best practice and current trends in simulationSALARY:Commemerates with education and experienceCOMPETITION NUMBER: CLOSING DATE: October 22, 2018TO APPLY: If you meet the requirements of this position and wish to apply, please continue with this online process by uploading your resume and cover letter combined as one documentNOTE: Notification of receipt will be sent only to online applicants.NorQuest College helps students unlock their potential and realize their dreams.
