Reporting to the Chief Economist & Strategist, the candidate will be responsible for conducting research in global macroeconomics and asset allocation. The candidate will conduct data analysis, update and maintain models, prepare chart packs and develop original and differentiated macroeconomic views, helping in the asset allocation investment process. The successful candidate will gain valuable knowledge and skills by being part of an experienced team that makes investments decisions on a large breadth of asset classes, geographies and investment strategies.The main responsibilities of the role:Conduct research on global macroeconomic developments in developed and emerging markets;Conduct research to forecast the risk and returns of all major asset classes such as stocks, bonds, currencies and commodities and related derivatives;Analyze a variety of macroeconomic data points;Systematize the use of global macroeconomic data by using computer programming to automate chart generation and data analysis;Support the Chief Economist & Strategist by assisting in the writing of reports and the generation of marketing materials;Meet with Mackenzie clients and represent the firm in marketing efforts.Minimum requirements for this role include: 2-5 years of relevant work experience in a macroeconomics or finance-related field (asset manager, central bank, finance department or Treasury, independent research firm, broker-dealer or bank);Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related discipline;Strong understanding of macroeconomics and its link to financial markets;Passion for markets and top-down investing;Functional knowledge of programming (Python) and MS Office;Ability to produce work with a high degree of accuracy within tight deadlines;High degree of attention to detail;Strong team spirit and ability to work collaboratively;Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;Working knowledge of French would be an asset.Internal Applicants:If you are interested in applying for this position please submit your cover letter and resume on-line using the “apply for this job” icon located at the bottom or to the left of the posting.
